Question from @Layman (original post):
@SaintSovereign I’ve been wondering a similar thing. For example, PEACE talks a lot in the copy about a ‘return to wholeness’. But whilst I guess I can understand the general concept of ‘wholeness’ in a person, I do struggle a bit to comprehend exactly how PEACE (and Attuned) are going to achieve this goal, and what it looks like. For example, someone who was bullied as a child, and then runs (e.g.) Dragon Reborn: Regeneration with Pride Unbroken might go through a process of healing that then makes that wounded part of them whole. So you could say that, in this example, the ‘mechanism’ for achieving wholeness is to gently bring into the conscious mind the wound that was suffered, and to tackle it with appropriate scripting (DRR’s healing scripting and Pride Unbroken). And I’m guessing this is the kind of process you’re referring to when you say direct scripting? But then how do PEACE and Attuned approach this? What’s the ‘mechanism’ to achieve the wholeness in this case?
Summary
@Layman — a fair question, and the two pages answer it in the same terms you used: what is the route to wholeness, and what does it look like from the inside.
Your example: healing as repair
The route you describe with Dragon Reborn: Regeneration is the one most of us picture: a wound is brought gently into view and tended until that part of you is whole again. The PEACE page draws exactly this contrast itself. Regeneration tends the wound; PEACE reconnects you to what was never wounded in the first place. It calls itself a returning title rather than a healing title.
PEACE: wholeness by return
PEACE’s premise is that the wholeness is already there and has been covered over, not destroyed. Every season of your life cut you into a useful shape (the reliable one, the strong one, the one who doesn’t need anything), and over the years the shapes came to outnumber the ground underneath them. Nothing has to be excavated. The work is to reconnect you to that ground, and the page is specific about where that happens: not in your beliefs but in your reflexes, which version of you walks into which room before you’ve thought about it. You can’t argue yourself back to the block, so PEACE offers, gently and repeatedly, the felt memory of being undivided, and it treats losing your footing and coming back as the practice itself, with the returns getting shorter. Old protective patterns are released without shame, understood as shapes that once kept you safe. What it looks like: a meeting where your pulse stays level, an evening that doesn’t need hours of decompressing, a conversation where you are actually in the room.
Attuned: wholeness by tuning
Attuned starts from the same premise, applied to love: you were whole from the beginning, and your note has been muffled by careful distance, rehearsed charm and the habit of holding back. It doesn’t hand you a new self to perform; it clears away what muffled the one you have. Where PEACE works on one broad ground, Attuned works through specific relational situations, and each feature is a place where an old reflex can be met differently: the unanswered message that used to decide your worth (Worthy Before Chosen), the no that used to feel like a verdict (Rejection Without Verdict), the closeness your body used to brace against (The Settled Heart). The Past Set Down says it plainly: nothing has to be dug up or relived; when an old reflex stirs, you meet it kindly, look at what is actually happening now, and let the ache pass. Wholeness here is what those situations add up to, which matches what SaintSovereign said above about self-worth arriving through embodiment rather than direct scripting. Heartsong Reforged is where it becomes one heart: nothing built from scratch, the heart you always had cleared and tuned.
In short
Regeneration repairs. PEACE returns you to the ground beneath every role. Attuned returns you to your own note and then practices it, situation by situation, in love. That is why the Heartsong page calls PEACE the floor and Heartsong the song, and why neither one requires the other.
