I would say they have to go through the entire book, not pick and choose chapters. Its a form a gradual hypnosis, skimming through the book does not work.Skipping chapters also does not work.

For me i’ve been a porn addict for more than 12 years. I truly believed i could not stop it.

Will power method failed me after 45 days, same with nofap and other methods. My max was 3 months but it still felt like a struggle. I still wanted to jerk off. Its like my entire body craved it even after 90 days.

When i heard about that book, i was like fuxk it lets just read this book like how its recommended in the first chapter. I didnt jump any chapters and heck i didnt even want to stop PMO even while reading it but then gradually, i just quit.

And now i have zero urges and even when some of the subs raise my libido to high levels. I can easily divert that energy elsewhere. I can still jerk off if i want to but there is no mental compulsion.

Bro, one reason it worked for me was i removed the mental belief that PMO gave me any benefit.

High libido is an expression of vitality, and sexuality is a divine creativity.

Lust being “lower”, “negative”, “evil”, “draining”, “base”, “impure”, “immoral”, is the esoteric projection of people in those communities who haven’t done any shadow work.

All of those semantics do is condition people to be ashamed of their own sexual expression.

I have a friend who is a sex coach (I myself almost went into that niche of coaching but opted for fitness instead) and I can’t tell you how many people’s sexual blockages and sexual issues come from religious upbringings based on shaming and conditioning them to feel unsafe in their own sexual expression.

Here is something to consider - in what contexts are sexual desire and lust detrimental?

When it’s disrupting your relationships or ability to connect with people, interfering with daily or long-term goals, and manifesting as compulsive addictions. Basically, when it’s at the expense of something more important in your life. It all depends on how it’s used and how it’s expressed, therefore it cannot be fundamentally negative or detrimental.

Calling libido bad makes no more sense than calling fire evil because it can burn a house down. It depends on the wielder and what they do with it.

Lust can be fun, playful, and creative, and connect you even deeper to your partner through intimacy. When you allow yourself to fully and authentically feel it, then it allows to be more open and vulnerable. When you have desire and you’re present in it, then you can use it as a gateway to experience another person more fully - on every level. It can ramp up the emotional intensity, making experiences more powerful, meaningful, and even transcendent in nature - in a way that can change you or someone else’s life for the better. You can use it to amplify your connection to someone, heighten passion, and deepen your bond with them - a celebratory union. The sexual desire can be appreciated consensually to expand one another through the vehicle of the senses (senses being pathways for energy to express, uplift, unify, and empower), or it can be used to disconnect, push away, escape, and objectify. Who determines how it’s used and expressed? If an individual, collective, or community, has never experienced sexuality in a positive or beneficial manner, and is incapable of doing so given where they are at in their development - then how will they be inclined to deem, label, or judge it? And there you have it, lol. Most people are not describing sexuality or lust, they’re describing their own relationship to it. We see things not as they are, but as we are.

Yes, in that post you quoted - I talk about how changing the fundamental lens of how you perceive and express sexuality will automatically make you uninterested in porn.

Healthy intimacy, self-respect, self-worth, agency, etc, further develop those things within yourself, and you’ll naturally perceive sexuality through those lenses, which will push you away from pornography. Strengthening your sense of agency will also help you easily overcome compulsive behaviors like PMO because compulsion requires a gap in agency. And I’m talking about deep subconscious structures related to agency. That way you’ll always be in control and feel in control, and won’t have to rely on willpower, distracting yourself, or whatever superficial method people advocate for you to apply, lol.

These types of things are bulletproof in terms of how they work, because they address the root causes. Root cause philosophy is what actually produces the real results.

I have a friend of a friend who follows some mainstream guy named Chase Hughes, and he told me that my philosophy is the exact same of what that guy talks about. The idea that society hardly moves the needle because they’re obsessed with symptoms instead of root causes.

A great example of this, is the whole “nervous system” trend going on in wellness spaces, where everyone is obsessed with nervous systems.

“I need to heal and strengthen my nervous system”.

“I need to fix my nervous system”.

Notice how it’s focused on as if it’s a biological issue, as if the nervous system is broken or something.

This is because a lot of people in general have overstimulated nervous systems due to living in a constant state of fear, worry, and stress.

The people who are little more experienced, will tell you that nobody has a nervous system issue. Their nervous systems are working 100% perfectly, and healthy.

If you feel powerless, victimized, helpless, and like you have no control, choice, or direction in changing your experience - then your nervous system will get cranked up. The moment you start feeling powerful, in control, aware of your choice, and your ability to respond or create your future - your nervous system will relax. People don’t have a “nervous system” problem, they have an agency problem. And it’s not black and white, it’s on a spectrum. The nervous system is just a responder to your perceptual lenses and sense of agency. Think of your nervous system as a highly sensitive microphone, that adjusts itself in response to what it “hears” about your agency. It doesn’t create anything - it reflects what your perception of agency is broadcasting. If you crank up the volume of choice, power, and control, then the nervous system will lower the volume on fear, reactivity, and uncertainty. Take “doomscrolling” for instance. Doomscrolling is literally the nervous system reacting to a lack of agency. You encounter something outside of your locus of control, the system spikes, and then you compulsively scroll to try to regain a sense of agency. Obviously scrolling isn’t going to provide that, so you just end up with a cranked nervous system, and a state of stress, reactivity, and weaker energy. Social media like IG will literally bombard you with uncertainty (politics, viral drama, other people’s lives and situations) that is outside of your locus of control, in an artificially hyper-concentrated manner that humans aren’t really evolved to handle - which keeps people in a fight or flight state, constantly weak, highly suggestible, reactive, and at each other’s necks. That also disrupts physical health because your body shuts off, delays, and suppresses natural healing and regenerative processes while prioritizing survival.

Even if your addiction is a coping mechanism for emotional processing - it’s really the agency that keeps your system calm, and gives you choice on how to respond to an emotion. If you don’t have that stabilized feeling and awareness of being in control, then it becomes much easier to reactively cope with a “negative” emotion like fear, anger, or sadness through avoidance or numbing. If your agency is strong enough, you don’t even need to do “detachment” or “observer mode” in emotional processing, you can stay fully present with your emotions, feel them, and integrate them without being thrown off. You don’t even need to “regulate your nervous system” with a strong enough agency, as it will just happen automatically.

If you have a cranked nervous system and only rely on relaxation techniques, breathwork, etc, you’re not actually changing anything on a deeper level - you’re just managing symptoms. Instead of upgrading the root cause, you’re just “de-stressing” the system until the same interpretation of reality reactivates that stress. You don’t heal stress by calming your system, you heal it by actually changing the perceptual lens that keeps creating it. And most of that lens is related to agency.

Exactly, it goes Agency → Nervous System.

The nervous system is a constantly adjusting mirror of how much power, control, choice, and ownership you feel you have in a situation. That’s why someone can remain calm even in a highly intense situation - they feel in control, capable, and free to respond rather than react. The real way to “heal” a chronically cranked up nervous system, would be to expand the baseline sense of power, control, choice, and ownership you have in relation to your life. It’s completely perceptual and identity based.

In mainstream wellness spaces however, you’ll see everyone talk endlessly about how they “need to fix my nervous system”, but you’ll rarely ever see them say they “need to fix the sense of power, control, choice, and ownership I have in relation to my life”, which is constantly being chipped away by social media, news, and cultural conditioning.

It’s things like this for why a lot of people in self-development either plateau, quit, regress, or go around in circles for years making minimal progress - because they avoid the root causes.

You can do 1000 nervous system techniques, or breathwork exercises, and it won’t amount to much if you haven’t healed the perceptual framework that cranked the nervous system up in the first place. If you operate from a strong victim mentality for instance, where you believe life just happens to you, and even minor stimuli spike your system like a blade of grass in the wind - then those techniques might calm you temporarily. However, unless you heal the identity-level perception of your own agency, the nervous system will get cranked right back up at the slightest disturbance. Like I said, it’s not black and white, it’s a spectrum, meaning there’s different levels and degrees of agency. It’s not an all or nothing deal where you either have it or don’t. It can always be developed more.

This also applies to trauma because people like to think “what about the nervous system being cranked due to past trauma”. When you heal traumas, you’re actually healing the perceived agency around a specific experience. Your sense of agency collapsed during that experience, and your nervous system because again, it’s a mirror/responder of agency - basically logs that collapse of agency in memory. So the nervous system is still reacting to it even if the event is over. This is why rewriting the story and meaning around the event even works in the first place, as you’re changing what the nervous system is reacting to. The main point I’m making is that it helps to deepen understanding of different layers and mechanisms to things, instead of people thinking that their nervous system is broken like they do in wellness spaces. It’s not broken, it’s perfectly responding to the person’s perceived sense of agency. It could not be any more perfect, lol.

Respectfully, that is a horrible idea for most people trying to decouple their reward circuitry from PMO.

You don’t need to go to an adult site to conceptualize the negative effects of the industry, and most people wouldn’t know how to separate which actors seem to want to be there with those who don’t.

Doing this is far more likely to initiate a chaser effect and increase cravings.

A better alternative would be watching a documentary or a YouTube interview with someone who has left the industry.

Also you can switch from porn to self exploring your body. That alone will eliminate porn completely.

People can certainly develop that ability. But with porn addiction, much more is at play than whether or not a pornstar is aligned with their choices.

Mirror neurons fire when we observe something. In most people, arousal and a narrowing of focus is inevitable when observing sexual acts. Many people can sense they don’t want to watch others have sex on a screen, but the compulsion is neurobiological, therefore inherently difficult to overcome. We are hardwired to take an interest in PMO, that’s why it is so popular and profitable.

You don’t need to watch porn explicitly to see how it is morally corrosive.
