Healing on the Fast Lane

I’ve been running Dragon and Alchemist preceded by Paragon Complete and after 6 months will be switching to stages 4 starting May. I kept a journal for it, but after hitting a month-long possible reconciliation I kind of stopped writing. Not to mention I really didn’t notice much from the subs. Although I had an epiphany the other day about the very nature of creation. So nothing big, right?

Anyways, I always try to fast during the month of May. Sort of like a spring cleanup for my body. As a bonus, I’ll lose a bit of fat before the summer.

I treated myself to an Oura Ring and a Muse last year so I’m planning on doing a lot of monitoring during this fast. It’s always interesting to see what “real” fasting does to the body (and by real fasting I mean the non-intermittent prolonged version). I know blood pressure and resting heart rate should go down. Sleep is also affected (and monitored by both devices). And thanks to the ring I’ll be able to see a trend in my HRV and body temperature as well. Add to it a quality blood pressure meter and a scale that is quite accurate in measuring body fat and associated values and I expect to have a wealth of data.

So, long story short (too late), would people be interested if I kept a journal here about the experience, posting some of the values and screenshots? It would serve as a motivator for me to make it past the difficult first week as well.

Keep in mind it would be mainly about the fasting, not the subliminals. Although they may affect the fast as well. Especially since I’m thinking about adding a Hero-focused custom into the stack. Fasting is all about healing for the body. Adding healing subs and physical shifting subs to it may have some very interesting results.

I know @RVconsultant might be interested.

Journal starts here.

I’d like to read it. I’ve only done 1 week long fasts myself, so I would be interested to see what your monitoring shows, as well as your subjective experience.

Very cool!

Absolutely. Would love it. Thanks for offering to share. :+1:t2:

I am against fasting for various reasons depicted here: https://telegra.ph/The-mistakes-of-fasting-04-27

Fasting is great for the mind, not so much for the body. Though this experiment sounds interesting.

Unfortunately the amount of people arguing for and against fasting are too great for us to have definitive answers. At this point the only thing we can do is try it for ourselves.

I know from personal experience that after my first two-month long fast I got sick about 75% less on the two years that followed compared to the two years before that.

I also know that my wrinkles and other blemishes of the skin get smaller or go away (the body prioritizes the “bad” cells over the “good” ones as the article seems to support).

Finally, I’ve had blood drawn before, during and after a long fast to check for the effects on white & red blood cells and the antibodies.

There was indeed evidence of increased toxicity in the blood during the fast, which is to be expected as supporters of fasting claim that the body only detoxes in a fasted state and as long as we keep eating our body keeps storing the toxins in fat cells (something which your article also seems to support).

So obviously during my fast all those toxins came out to be processed, putting a strain on the organs meant to purify the blood and leading to what fasters call a “detox crisis” which leads to headaches and lower back pain.

But after the fast was over and I was slowly getting back into eating, my blood was described to be as clear and clean as that of a newborn baby. There was a very evident difference in the blood drawn before and after. Not just under the microscope but actually visible in the test tubes.

Yes, the body enters a state where it “cannibalizes” itself. But it is smart enough to be picky about it. Toxic cells do need to leave the body at some point and can provide much needed energy, so they get picked whether we like it or not. The amount of cancer patients undergoing Filonov’s procedure and having their cancer completely disappear are also more than just a statistical anomaly.

My goal as with any of my fasts is to take a very scientific approach and simply observe what’s happening, from my physical state to my mental state and my dreams. Whether or not fasting is good or bad is a subject for another thread.

I do hope you’ll stick around just to see what happens.

Of course. Don’t get me wrong, I am highly in favor for this experiment!
(Who would not want a genuine pig )

Seriously, I find your test very fascinating and will follow it closely. I am doing all kinds experiments in regards to nutrition myself since I am like 14 or so. I just learned over the years that while water fasting works, better effects can be achieved by feeding the body with the right nutrients. Especially, raw egg fasts are incredibly healing for the body (in certain detoxification periods), basically being the perfect mixture of both worlds.

Maybe, once you are done with your water fast, you could try an egg fast in the future, seeing and comparing the results yourself

Are you planning to get your blood tested for this experiment too?

A genuine pig, eh? Not a guinea pig?

Genuine pigs. When fake ones just won’t do!

Raw eggs? How easy is it to hold that in?

I really wish I could do a juice fast some time, but that takes a LOT of effort. Constant supplies of fresh fruits and vegetables, constant cleaning of the juicer.

My idea is I’ll do a water-fast during May, then try (once more) a semi-vegan lifestyle during June (vegan protein sources are pretty expensive). Then I’ll see about July.

Nah, it’s not exactly a standard thing. I’d have to find a doctor to explain the experiment to and get them to cooperate. I used to work at a research hospital, so it was easy then. They love genuine pigs there.

I was considering doing a full vitamin & mineral workup, but they’re so busy with other stuff now. Apparently there’s some kind of small flu going around.

I’ll stick to the other measurements this time.

What modules are you thinking of including in the Project Hero custom?

I’m thinking about it vaguely now. The one that comes to mind is Renal System. The other one is Organs. Since detoxification is such a centrally important process in fasting.

But maybe based on your past experience you have other/additional ideas.

I’m still on track to start fasting Saturday. Finishing up the last of my perishable food. And admittedly overeating a little bit on the stuff I won’t be having in the foreseeable future.

I’ll probably change this thread’s title and category and place a link in the first post to the first actual journal-post.

So many to choose from honestly. That has been my challenge since the Q store opened.

Since I want to use it alongside fasting, there’s obviously Fat Burning.
Organs would be another 99% sure.
Then a couple of the Systems, like:
Immune System : Also pretty obvious, bring on those immunoglobulins
Lymphatic System : Likewise, and I know from experience they get hit hard during fasting
Endocrine System : Maybe support the higher levels of HGH during a fast
Renal System : Another obvious one, the body is working on detoxing and these organs do most of the work

Some of those descriptions are really giving me a good feeling about adding them.

Possibly:
Cardiovascular, since the blood pressure lowers, blood composition changes and heart rate lowers as well. The ideal time for the cardiovascular system to adapt and heal, since it will never get closer to a state of rest.
Respiratory, the body expels some of the toxins through the lungs (fasters often have bad breath) and I’ll be doing a lot more meditation and breath work.
Digestive, this one is questionable as it goes into maintenance mode, but even then it still cleanses itself, takes care of old gunk (did you know the average human has at least one piece of months old undigested meat in their intestines?) and there’s the necessary bacterial cultures to consider.

An argument can be made for
Hair : Hair follicles sometimes go dormant during fasts due to lack of nutrition, then come back online afterwards. Sometimes this leads to temporary but barely noticeable hair loss
Head & Nervous System : To maximize the benefits from meditation and maybe even subliminals during the fast. In the end it’s all electrical impulses going through the body after all.

That’s like… 12 modules already. Add some stuff to aid in meditation, manifestation and spiritual stuff and we’re pretty much filled up. No room for the flexibility support for all that stretching I’ll be doing instead of exercise.

Alternatively, I could create an Ultima with the Fat Burning and some of the Systems because those are constant processes that could be served by a fast-acting Ultima.

However, since I’ll still have Paragon Complete, Dragon Stage 4 and Alchemist Stage 4 in the stack, I may not want to overdo it (too late, again).

Any advice would be welcome. If we assume fasting benefits healing and spiritual development and the goal is to support a calm and mindful lifestyle for the duration, which modules would you guys recommend? All (constructive) input is welcome.

@RVconsultant you make a lot of situational customs, what would you do?

And can I just get a pat on the back for spelling immunoglobulins correct in a single try?

EDIT:
I would add Integumentary System to the list as the skin (like lungs) is used to expel some toxins. And as I mentioned earlier, skin blemishes and scars tend to get less on longer fasts. Not to mention the skin often gets very soft after a fast.

Non-fast-related, I might add Eyesight and Hearing, since those areas could benefit from getting some attention. For me at least.

I’m going to assume you’re focusing on Hero modules only.

Do you have a priority of known or suspected areas you want healed or repaired?

In priority of importance to you, what effects might you want to have? HGH? Elimination of damaged cells? Fat elimination? Etc.

Well, my main goal would be to support the body during the fast. That would mean detoxification and healing while sustaining itself primarily on fat. As a secondary goal I would support the elevated mental state that it elicits, which makes my meditation and manifestation more powerful.

It doesn’t have to focus on Hero modules, but these modules appear to match to the primary goal quite well. Not to mention I’m probably not the only person here that would love to see what happens with shifter modules. A fast makes it even more interesting.

So I chose the Hero modules that support the body’s internal processes and organs.

So that would leave space for healing and spiritual modules.

I mentioned the eyesight and hearing modules because I have sporadic tinnitus and my optical nerves could use the assist.

I’m listening to Regeneration Q v2 ultrasonic, 4-6 loops.

I’m on my 15th day.
And right now I’m in Ramadan ( a month where all muslims must fast ).

I found that it helped me so much in fasting during the day and not eating too much food

as I began to fast very very long hours like 14-18 hours.

I actually must post a journal here on the website, but I like to do a hand writing journal more.

My diet is eating large amounts of proteins like liver, meat, eggs etc…

Drink water as much as possible.

Avoid sugar and carbohydrates like pizza, bread, cakes

Eating a banana and dates before starting my fasting at 5 am.

And to be honest with you, I’m avoiding doing exercising ( personally I don’t want to excercise and fast at the same time )

I personally don’t follow any religion. But I do believe in a source of all things to some degree and I try my best to respect all practitioners as best as I can.

So combined with me never needing an excuse to fast, I have joined people on Ramadan more than once, sometimes because I felt bad about eating in front of them or out of solidarity.

I remember the first time I did. A friend was doing it and since I was so experienced at fasting I thought it would be fun to show him how easy it was.

Unfortunately, that year it was during July/August so there were long and hot days and I was not prepared to go without water. The dehydration headache started after 2 hours I think. I finally understood how some people can get so grumpy.

I have since trained to go without water as well, so I can easily go 48-72 hours without food and water nowadays, but I still recall how humbling it was that first time. Here I was, able to go without food for 30+ days, this was gonna be easy. Not!

This year I was talking about it with a colleague and we came to the conclusion that if you take out the spiritual aspect of it, Ramadan is a lot like 16:8 intermittent fasting.

Still, one must not discount the spiritual aspect. Especially now that a lot of that time can be spent at home with family and without having to go look for a quiet place to pray at the office, it must be a far more rewarding experience.

I’ll be trying to focus more on the spiritual aspect of fasting this time by doing more meditation and certain forms of yoga. I’m always disappointed when I don’t feel anything spiritual during a fast.

As far as exercise goes, my body has a rule about exercise and fasting. I can exercise while fasting if I want, even go running for 20 minutes. But in return I get food cravings like you wouldn’t believe. So I tend to do mostly flexibility work while fasting. Which works, during a fast the body is far more bendy.

P.S.
I often recommend you keep a handwritten journal in detail, then a more general one on this forum. There’s nothing that says you can’t have both.

In other news, I’ve been looking more into the custom and have come to the realization that it would be near impossible to meet both goals.

So I’m considering a healing Q based around Dragon Stage 4 with Hero modules, possibly paired with an Ultima based around Paragon Complete. Then maybe later I could do a spirituality-focused Q based around Alchemist Stage 4. I will likely include only some very basic spirituality-focused modules into the healing sub.

So, you prefer less modules per sub?

After a very lengthy process of elimination I came up with this. It seems to have the maximum bang for buck.

Core:

Fasting/Healing:

Support:

I was/am a bit conflicted between Energetic Development and The Architect.

Based around Dragon Reborn, with major focus on healing and Hero modules, with a few modules to improve subconscious processing. I can probably even build it in Terminus since I’ve been running Dragon for 6 months and Paragon Complete since before it was Paragon.

I just realized that Dragon doesn’t do physical healing. I suppose that makes up for the lack of emotional and spiritual modules and this combo creates a full-spectrum healing sub. Still, if Paragon Complete had been non-Ultima…

I do wish I could have plugged Mosaic in there somewhere. Unfortunately the energetic module feels like it should be in there.

Another thing is that I may not actually get the custom until near the end of the fast, given how many of you are creating Hero customs right now.

Since the fast starts tomorrow, here’s what I was planning on doing:

  • I weigh every Saturday, so tomorrow is a nice “before” state. I’m not gonna tell you my starting weight, but I’ll tell you the weekly change in weight.
  • I will also post the change in body fat percentage (and possibly some of the other values) according to the scale. Keep in mind it’s an impedance scale, so it won’t be super-accurate, but it does have hand and feet sensors and so far has been reasonably accurate. I’ll consistently weigh about an hour or two after drinking a few glasses of water.
  • I will also post daily blood pressure readings. My device uses three readings in a row with a 30 second pause in between and then takes the average.
  • And of course some readings/screenshots from the Oura and Muse concerning sleep, body temperature, resting heart rate, readiness and other stuff that might be affected by fasting. The Oura does unfortunately obfuscate a lot of the readings behind algorithms. but it should still be useful.
  • Since I have noticed that my mind goes quiet after a while during a fast (all those random thoughts and internal dialogue stops) I suspect it goes into a more alpha dominant state. So my idea is to buy the Mind Monitor App which can connect to the Muse and read the actual brainwave data as the headband sees it. I may then do several 5-10 minute meditations during the day (maybe after waking, during work and after work) and post those results to see if there’s a noticeable trend as the fast progresses.
  • As far as exercise goes, I will be doing mostly yin yoga at night, so slow stretches. Maybe some standing Qigong or Tai Chi. I have also recently started using Workrave and am considering setting it to do a bit of Pomodoro style breaks, meaning I’d be taking frequent computer breaks. Finally, I do have a vibration plate. Whether or not there’s any benefit to it I have no idea, but it definitely exhausts my leg muscles. So I may use that. As stated earlier, medium to intense training sessions are possible for me, but will lead to intense hunger cravings.
  • I’m still debating if I should take some herbal tea, I think I might stick to water only.
  • And of course, this journal will go until at least the last day of May. I may actually keep journaling for much longer since it could also be interesting to see how quickly my body bounces back during the refeeding in June. And who knows, I may jump into another fast in July. Or try other things like ADF (this girl’s been doing it for years) and OMAD. At very least I’ll be looking more into vegan stuff. I’m a pretty lazy cook and don’t have the income to go total-health foods, so I was very happy to find out just how many easy and affordable vegan meals you can make in a rice cooker.

If anybody has suggestions for things I should measure or journal about, please let me know. That way we might be able to turn this journal into something really interesting. But if you intend to use it for a thesis, remember to give credit.

As far as accurate measurements go, these guys have gotten me beat:

@DarkPhilosopher can you comment on the effectiveness of subs during an extended fast? I’m planning an extended fast for later this year and I’d like to run DR + PCU during it.

Unfortunately I rarely notice subs, so don’t expect wild things. But in my experience subs definitely affect sleep. Without subs I’m always filled with energy during a fast. With subs, my brain gets tired faster, so I’m yawning a lot or periodically lack the brilliant creative insights I normally have on fasts.

I will comment on stuff, including what I suspect may be the subs, just like a standard journal.

Still debating if I should run run subs at night…
