Good movie or series to watch?

Ocean’s original trilogy (Ocean’s Eleven, Twelve & Thirteen) is great & highly recommended. Love to re-watch it every year.

The Misfits is another good movie, in my honest opinion.

Then there is the original Ocean’s 11 from 1960.

I didn’t even know the movie existed.

General rule with movies and “TV shows”: If they announce something “new”, see if they did it before in a previous era.

Quite a good one if you like fantasy or D&D

Rabbit/Hole with Kiefer Sutherland is ahmazing. It’s billed as a miniseries. And is 8 or 10 episodes.

Not quite as good as the Ocean’s trilogy but it’s a good movie nonetheless.

Anyone seen any recent horror/thriller movies created that capture the feel of 80s movies? Not the aesthetics, I mean the execution.

Stuff like Brain Damage, Dead Ringers, From Beyond, Altered States, Bad Dreams, Scanners.

I watched The Void recently which was a huge letdown. Stylistically seemed promising, but it looks like the writing took a back seat to effects.

I don’t really look for movies much so I’m wondering if anyone here has run across any gems. Definitely not a movie buff.

Nothing recent that captures the feel of 80s movies… but horror from the 1980s?

How about the Re-Animator, or anything from the Phantasm series (even if the original and the newer ones are not from the 1980s)?

If you want weird, there is Lair of the White Worm, and Dr. Caligari (1989).

I’ll give re-animator a watch. I’ve yet to see that one. Actually recently watched Lair of the White Worm and was thoroughly entertained.

Dr. Caligari looks right up my alley too.

I’ve been trying to get out of the past with movies and avoiding the whole “things were just better in that decade”. Idk 80s horror/thrillers were just unhinged in the best way possible. Also the cinematography, attention to detail with FX that couldn’t just be fixed in post with computers, and the soundtracks.

I found out about this one from a friend.

How did you find it?

Haha also a friend. We have the same taste in movies and he stumbled upon it. I think it was on the streaming service Shudder so might have gone unnoticed otherwise
