New Name Change Policy

Privacy is a completely valid reason to change a forum identity, it’s why I’ve always used a persona name on here rather than my real name.

The issue arises when people change their names so many times that if someone blinks and misses just one of those changes, they have no idea who anyone is anymore.

That’s why I whipped up a Discourse plugin* to automagically show the previous name for a fixed amount of time after the change, except when mods overwrite it for privacy reasons.

*Not yet tested. Always a slight chance it may instead try to divide by 0 and crash the universe.

What you did was understandable based on what I posted. It’s fine, really. I was curious so I can tell them where to look.

I wonder why you can’t see your own profile. Can you clear your cache? Log off and log back in?

Your profile says:

(Dragon Rider)

When users go to their own profile, it won’t show unless they click on “expand” near the top. It auto-hides from users viewing their own profile.

Thanks. I guess the irony is that because I can see almost everything here, I end up missing out on some things.

It worked with the the tips from Trader.

Thank you @Trader

I am well, especially because many people seem to be getting these odd flu/cold symptoms.

Good to hear that you are well. That warms my heart.

I had it 3 times in a row.

NAC desolved it quickly for me.

Great!

I’ve also found using a Navage with a few drops of Lugol’s iodine solution has helped.

If you get a Navage, YT has videos on how to hack it so you don’t have to keep buying their saline pods. I think 0.9% saline (aka normal saline) can be made with 1 teaspoon of salt (I prefer Real Salt that is mined from some deep mountain area, I think) with 1 pint of water.

I also got these silicone pieces to put in the hinge to hack the Navage and that was a bad idea on my part. Those little silicone pieces put too much pressure on the hinge, and it eventually cracked the Navage.

Sometimes I put in a few drops of tea tree oil. I was using eucalyptus but I gave that up when I was reading about essential oils. Apparently a number of essential oils could potentially have compounds that are harmful to fetuses and children. Other components of some essential oils could be harmful to the lungs, the brain, or the central nervous system. DAMN! I thought essential oils were supposed to be good for you.

Now you gave me something new to research.

Thanks

Do you have a link where to buy this salt??

Here is Real Salt.

I get it because I’m concerned sea salt or Celtic salt might have nanoplastics.

I’m guessing that if it isn’t sold where you live (perhaps at Whole Foods), then perhaps there is another place that has a similar process; that is, mining salt rather than extracting it from the ocean. As you read about Real Salt, you’ll get details of their process, and if unable to get this brand, perhaps another company in Europe has a similar philosophy.

This wasnt mine

That’s the one I can’t remember

Please confirm: So you used the name

and you just now remembered, or it was

that you were trying to remember?

I think I mixed that up. @Lord_Ouki is still in use.

@RVconsultant is your plan to possibly ban name changing ?
