Contract and release: Once you’ve identified the muscles, practice contracting them (squeezing) for a few seconds. Relax and visualize lifting those muscles upwards.

Focus on isolation: Make sure you’re not engaging your abdominal, thigh, or buttock muscles. Breathe normally throughout the exercise.

Repeat and progress: Start with a few repetitions. Gradually increase the duration and frequency of your contractions.

Just like any muscle group, your pelvic floor can weaken over time.
Kegels can have sexual benefits, too. Men may have improved erections.

Kegels aren’t appropriate for everyone. In some cases, pelvic floor problems develop because the muscles are too tense and are difficult to relax, making Kegels less effective, especially to fat people.

Over time, as your pelvic floor starts to strengthen, you should find that you can hold Kegels for longer durations. Ten seconds is a good goal, but if you can’t do it at first, that’s fine. Your ability to hold the Kegel for longer periods of time should improve with repetition.

I don’t have urine leaks, frequent trips to the bathroom, only improved sexual health.
