Koreans are getting really good with sci-fi. I loved this one.
Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber
It’s been described as Wolf of Wall Street meets Billions & Social Network.
did you watch/like episode 1?
i thought it was terrible in first 20 min and stopped watching,
should i finish the episode?
does it get better?
i stopped right at the part where he is standing on the balcony outside and the guy from the taxi company comes to warn him.
I’m watching it now. I get enthused rather easily when I at least identify with the ethos of a work… this allows me to suspend judgement and enjoy THAT which I identify with…
There are so few films and shows today about individualism or dream lifestyles without heavy handed pseudo-moral underwriting…
i have very hard time watching or even reading anything if the main character is a bad person.
and in the first 20 min of the show Travis is so unlikable that i just do not feel like spending time following someone like that around.
i had the same problem when i tried reading Steve jobs biography; he was such a terrible human being that i just gave up and could not stand following such a psychopath for hundreds of pages.
That’s fair. I’m undecided on Travis… mind you, I have the luxury of not being in the financial sector or knowing much of his personal story. I am watching from a clean slate.
it really shows you how different humans are because i found him incredibly unlikable in those first 20 min of episode 1.
really shows how drastic humans are in who we connect with.
but honestly part of me feels the acting is also bad; like i think i see what the actor is trying to do but he does not have the acting style/talent to pull it off and just comes across as a super jerk.
its hard to explain but i feel a better/different actor for Travis i might have kept watching.
I just saw him as a man with a dream and the guts to make it real.
Insane Epic party episode 2
ala Motley Crew “Dirt” movie
or The Wolf of Wall Street.
Hahaha
no definitely not.
that is absolutely NOT what i saw in the first 20 min.
Then they could’ve called it Super Jerk.
Did you enjoy The Wolf of Wall Street?
I know it’s not a true comparison with what they were attempting to accomplish. And Jordan was certainly morally bankrupt.
Needed a place to rant about the new SpiderMan movie. Finally got around to watching No Way Home and I’m so annoyed at how overhyped it is. What a disappointment.
Raised by wolfs!
What didn’t you like about it?
It was way too overhyped There’s so many corny/cheesy moments in the movie that make me cringe, the connection between the separate timelines feels very forced, Peter’s best friend Ned is an obnoxious and useless character who is a central part of the movie unfortunately, there are other characters that are also annoying and idiotic (I was actively rooting for Aunt May to be killed off), the story itself has huge plot holes and it relies way too much on the viewer’s nostalgia from the previous versions of Spiderman. Action scene choreography was meh, with the only good action choreography IMO coming from the ending fight between Parker and the Green Goblin (which was also interrupted with some good ol’ cheesiness/corniness). The scene where the other Spidermans are introduced stands out as being so poorly written and executed.
There are some pros of course: the 3 Spidermans, corniness aside, are initially entertaining in their interactions with each other (basically between the time they’re introduced until the battle against the villains at the end). MJ is alright, the scenes with Doctor Strange are some of the best ones (though again, that forced ‘Marvel’ comedy is awful). The movie has a satisfying ending too, and it sets up future films very well.
I had people telling me it was arguably the best Marvel movie ever, it’s not even the best Spiderman movie. In terms of Marvel movies I can think of Black Panther, Shang-Chi, Infinity War, Civil War, Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, Ironman 1 and 3 and Age of Ultron as being easily better than Spiderman: No Way Home.
Heroes is a good series to watch!
Thank you for expanding on your review.
Watching the trailers I was afraid that would be the case.
Is DUNE worth watching just for the music and sounds?
