For years I have been considering becoming a Free Mason and probably will pursue it.
Is anyone here a Free Mason or thought of becoming one?
My dad was a Mason, so was my uncle. Another uncle went all the way through Masons and then became a Shriner.
I got the feeling it was more of a social thing than something that had a profound effect on them.
I kept asking them about occult aspects of Masonry and they seemed clueless about that. The Shriner is an atheist and science PhD and he just laughed me off.
I’d be more curious about something like this.
In these time creating your community to be it’s leader and influence the people is better way than joining the Masons .
Especially the known levels of the Masons are normal men an women’s the secrecy is creating that halo of speciality but they are not special .
If I speak about the unknown (the masses) aspects of massons we will get to conspiracy talk .
There are great community you can join . one of them that I deeply appreciate.
I completely forgot about the OTO
Thank You
Hey always wanted to know about the Farnam Street community as I enjoy reading the articles. Is there a very active forum?
Sorry , I don’t know , not subscriber . But the blog and books are of great benefit to me .
James, I heard that the Freemasons require members to follow a religion of sorts and a belief in any god. Though I am thinking they prefer followers of monotheistic (abrahamic) religions, not sure if that is true.
I read the books by Joseph Weed back in the late 90s. “Psychic Energy” and “Wisdom of the Mystic Masters”.
One night, the night I finished reading WotMM, I was in a mood and took a boatload of Gingko Biloba and meditated to a candle flame. Asked in consciousness “I’d really like to join AMORC. What guidance can I get about that?” AMORC is the organization Joseph Weed was supposedly a Grand Wizard or some such thing of in North America. The Rosicrucian Order is the unofficial name.
After that meditation, I went to sleep. Dreamed I was on a school bus, and Joseph Weed was in the seat behind me. I turned around and said “HEY!” We talked.
He told me “AMORC isn’t what it used to be. Save your money.”
I got the sense I should just keep reading and applying what I read.
I’m out. Ok . No big deal
What a name. For a while I was thinking that you could smoke weed and get into that trance.
I did the Mormon/LDS thing for 10 months. Was doing a 12-month experiment of it, made it 10 months. They require a belief in lots of stuff, I just kept an open mind haha. They believe that the Bishops have the power of “Discrimination” that comes with the office. Basically discerning truth from falsities.
When doing my interview for Temple Recommend, one of the questions the Bishop asks is “Do you have a problem with masturbation?”
Inwardly, I thought to myself “No, I think everyone should be allowed to do it” inner joke. The guy laughed as if he’d heard the joke. Not sure though haha.
Outwardly, of course, I said “No”
OK I’m done
@Trader You crack me up
I meant I’m not doing the Mason thing. I wasn’t aware you had to believe on God or a higher power. That definitely disqualified me.
When you do that kind of inquiry. Are you asking your question then just maintaining that blank mind state until your answer comes? Or do you just maintain the meditative state into sleep?
Mormons do LSD? Certainly would explain a lot.
Maybe they should switch to peyote. Unless the Scientologists have a corner on that
Yes. Focused on the flame and seeing if I could influence it with me mind. While thinking the question when I remembered to. Then at some point got a feeling “Aight that’s enough” and went to bed.
They do LDS
Yeah they require you to affirm a belief in some sort of Supreme Being type thing, from what I’ve heard. I’d be fine saying that I do, since I believe in myself, and I’m a Supreme Being.
That you are Sir
Personally, I prefer the Stonecutters
Rotary International for the athiests and non-believers. Same model as freemasons I think.
