You will never change. Beat yourself against the wall, you will only break your body. Walk toward the horizon, you will never meet it. You will never change.
When darkness falls and you are alone with your thoughts, the truth of these words will ring true. You will never change.
You can’t change.
You can’t change.
You may ask yourself then, how could this be? Surely I’ve changed. I say no, You didn’t change because You can’t change.
YOU are a fixed thing. The thing that desires change–You–is fixed. To change you must cease to be You, that is the only way.
Hair only appears to grow after you’ve stopped looking in the mirror and come back after some time. Grass only appears to grow when you stop measuring and come back after some time. In this way, you must look away. Shut your eyes and ears, stop measuring, stop trying, stop. When you return, what you will find changed is something that isn’t You.
The thing that exists after the transformation is not You, it’s something entirely different. That is why I say, You can never change.
This thing that wants to change is fixed. That which exists after the change is fixed. When you look, things become fixed, when you are blind nothing is fixed.
To change you must blind yourself and come back after some time. When you return, only then will it become apparent. So long as you look, you’ll never change.
Your memories will be like those of a stranger, then you know that you’ve changed.
