What's your thoughts on low carb diet?

Recently, I’ve read some studies that because of low carbs your body reduce testosterone which impacts your sex drive, boner, strength and drive to workout, etc.

I feel like this would be a great discussion to have with people with all types of diets so your welcome to give your opinion on this (PS: Nothing wrong with low carb diet if it works for you, then all power to you! Personally I like IF with a calorie deficit:))

im doing keto and intermittent fasting almost religiously, to the point i havent done a workout in an unfasted state in a month now (im on spartan)

and i feel like my test levels are way better, the other day i took melatonin before bed and i had a wet dream.

afaik keto improves hgh and wherever hgh goes test goes, correct me if im wrong

i also work out at godly intensity levels and volume to further promote it, and ive found that my energy produced during a workout when i have glycogen in my system always had a very static ceiling

when i first started fasting before workout it was difficult but i still went as hard as i possibly can muster and now i have a tank unlike any other, ill do the most intense workout that would kill a soldier, come home still fasted 20 hours and listen to motivational videos and literally roar into my mirror

so there is definitely a positive connection with test and entering ketosis or survival modes

oh and also sugar is bad for test, i literally did all this diet to fix gyno and it fucking disappeared.

final edit to finish my point: and the gas tank aka the atpk in your muscle is awoken from dormant state to begin aiding you in your workouts due to the lack of glycogen, therefore…the carb ceiling of output is gone, you can enjoy higher and higher ceilings of explosiveness, productivity and drive during your workouts (if u work for it!)

Might be that keto long term reduce it, short term might be good. Hgh increase is due to fasting not due to keto correct me if I’m wrong tho (Hunger increases HGH which is why fasting increases it). I know myself and some others can’t workout at all on keto but that might be because we haven’t adapted to a low carb diet and are just not made for it to be honest however thank you so much for sharing!

Long-term consistent keto can have issues, cyclical is the best overall balance I’ve found. Strict keto 6 days a week with 1 refeed day. Healthy carbs, mind you… sweet potatoes, rice, moderate fruit… Not Pizza Hut & McDonald’s.

I’ve not been strict for a while (and it shows…), but my numbers were great when I was doing that (I had a CGM and had regular checks on other things… lipids, T, thyroid hormones, etc.
Hormones matter far more than calories (seriously that’s like judging the quality of a book by the word count rather than the contents…) but cyclical clean keto IF with moderate caloric restriction is very effective.

Insulin makes hgh go down so keto in and of itself will make your hgh go up, fat and protein spike insulin to a far lesser degree than with carbs

Fasting is prolonged dead levels of insulin which makes hgh even higher

High T low T, high HGH, low HGH all doesn’t matter. Instead you should better ask yourself if the diet you are on is actually healthfully for you longterm.

Put health first.

Dr. Jason Fung writes extensively about insulin in his books, but it’s his book on insulin’s effects on cancer that really drove home (for me) how important it is to keep it under control.

You literally just stated an oxymoron there because hormones are absolutely vital for health on every level

Low T is hell and so is low hgh

Yep. Optimal health = everything in a healthy range. Hormones, minerals, everything.
