What are your preferred studying methods?

How are you guys study? Usually I’d be going through courses and whatever sticks - sticks. But that’s no way to go for me lol

I’ve tried memory palace but it didn’t really work well enough for memorizing concepts (you know, when you learn something the usual way, you kind of remember it when necessary; with memory palace I couldn’t do that)

Image Streaming worked for me very well but it required a lot of energy and time investment

Currently I’m using the Mental Atlas method and it works for me and fits all the criteria (memorization, help with reasoning, ease of accessing knowledge, etc.)

How do you guys study? And if it’s some uncommon method, please leave a link where to learn it

Interesting, will check out the atlas.

I take courses but usually I learn by doing. I try to solve problems (software engineer) and if I fail it means I didn’t understand the problem or the techniques used, so I read up on it and that lesson through failure usually sticks.

Yeah, that’s my preferred approach for things I can practice with, but for theory-heavy materials, Atlas is my preferred method now. I DO use it for things I can practice too, it helps me learn faster but as you said, just practicing and failing is crucial as well

A decade passed since university, but back I the day I used to read a text, then summarize it in my own words. Read the text again and checked my summary.
When I was done with a topic/ Script, whatever, I started the process again using my summaries, creating shorter summaries.
Did a few cycles of this and finally held a few pages containing all the information I deemed necessary to remember everything.
Then I went back to the original text and wrote pages of questions. Everything I could imagine that could be asked about the topic. Then I answered these questions over and over again.

As a final test, I started teaching the topic. Mostly to the wall. Only when are capable of teaching the material yourself, you know you’ve understood it.

I think one of the most influential books for my pretty good grades was a book called “The Overnight Student”.

that sounds tiresome though

Also, since I’m a audio visuelle learner, I recorded everything in an mp3 format and played it everywhere: in the car, while shopping, cleaning, whenever I didn’t need complete focus.

Nowadays, AI could do that part, simply feed it with the PDF.
