Not using GMX, just trying to get back into league atm.
Alright dude. Never played MOBA before. I like GMX, I think it helped me work through a problem where try harding used to be anxious results oriented. But now I strive toward improving and play, but the journey is less heavy. I just play, win or lose, I love gaming. And becoming good is inevitable, you just play and learn from your mistakes, no need to add suffering to it.
ROM might have helped as well, helped me realize I associate success with pain, but you don’t need pain and struggle. What I mean by that is that I kind of create additional pain and struggle, because I think it will make me better. Totally pointless.
It’s like taking the longer and harder road to a destination…. Barefoot. Pointless, just put your shoes on and take the easy road. There’s no glory in intentionally taking the harder road, when the easier road is just as good from A to B.
It’s like I want to finish a game, and I decide to play on the hardest difficulty. Sure, if your goal is the challenge, do it. But my goal is the finish line, the story, the journey, pointless to play it on hardest difficulty.
I get what you mean, I’ve been noticing that I have that same tendency, especially now that Khan is in my stack. A part of it may be because some of the success I’m most proud off came from periods where I was struggling, and my back was against the wall.
Yeah, indeed. But you have to be aware of where it’s natural struggle and when it’s artificial, self-made. Only you can tell.
Khan I believe brings out challenges to help you grow I think. Which is fine, I think, but it’s when you add extra pointless struggle just for the struggles sake. It’s like making yourself a martyr.
Day 41 - Rest day
I listened to GMX and ME last night for 15 min each. I haven’t had time to play, and today I am heading to dinner with family. But Tuesday and Wednesday I’ll get a couple hours in.
I would like to meditate more, but it’s not always easy to find the time so I am trying to get a few minutes here and there. I also would like to practice visualization, I’ll try to find a couple minutes here and there.
I am thinking of sticking to this stack for a couple months and then add in StarkQ and True Sell in like 6 months, with GMX, to strive for streaming. Just some ideas. People say RoM reveals what stack you should go for, so hopefully I’ll know what’s best to work on in 6 months.
I am thinking improving ones visualization ability is nice and will come in handy. I just haven’t practiced it.
Post-post notes
I played some OW2 games and I think I won 2 and lost 2. My damage, kills were top notch, like super good compated to enemy teams DPS and my teams dps. I think I played out of my mind. But it’s a team game, and you win/lose as a team, good or bad.
That’s an interesting thing to think about.
In team games you can be the top guy doing all of the carrying while your team just sucks and you end up losing. The real pros know how to go beyond that.
Did you know that there are a countless number of ways that you can use to psychologically manipulate your team members into playing better than usual. Doing it through chat is the obvious one but sometimes you don’t even need chat. Winning isn’t always purely about skill.
This is what people don’t understand when they play team games online. They play the best that they can, end up losing and then blame their teammates. You have to become the leader of your team. Getting your teammates to play good or at least maximize their potential is part of the game, it’s part of winning in any team based competition.
Small example:
If you’re in game lobby (I don’t know if Overwatch 2 has that, I never played it lol) and toxic energy is being created then there’s a likelihood that people will get tilted from out of the gate. They’re going into the game with a losing mindset already which will affect performance and increase the probability of losing.
You’re never powerless in your ability to win, it’s always possible. When you adopt the mindset that your team is actually an extension of you and not something separate that’s there to point fingers at or compare to yourself… you will find that you become an absolute monster in multiplayer games. This also applies to anything team related (work, projects, etc).
I strongly believe in being proactive, and not fall into blame game, and victim mentality. I try to focus on things I can control. I never blame my team in chat or voice chat. It never comes any good out of it and usually creates a spiral of toxic communication. I always try to learn from the games I win and lose. That’s what I focus on.
With that out of the way, I don’t agree about other players and winning.
Winning is not always in my power. Learning and improving is. I can’t control other people. I can perhaps influence, but never control. I can be proactive and choose heroes that might synergize better with my team and their playstyle. I can communicate better and try to teamwork. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, and sometimes the other team just plays better and I just reflect on lessons from that game and then go to the next game with random players.
Watching pros on twitch, they usually showcase their wins/loss stats for the day. They sometimes are positive, sometimes even and sometimes negative. Which together from my experience in ranked tells me I don’t have to always win to rank up. Because not even the pros do that. So that’s fine, as long as I improve my decision making and skills, I will rank up, sooner or later, wins or losses.
Overwatch 2 is all about fights, and the team that wins most fights win, and the outcome of those fights depend on individual decisions, and one player can make a decision that end up making a team lose that fight. A team fight is a chain of decisions, and one weak link during a critical moment in a fight can change the outcome.
A badly timed ultimate, going in alone instead of waiting for team mates, failing to heal a player in time, playing to agressively, or me as a DPS killing the wrong player, or not getting an impactful kill or missing every shot in that particular fight.
Winning is always possible, true, otherwise what’s the point? It must be a possibility.
Winning isn’t always purely about skill, true, assuming you mean mechanical skills. Teamwork, strategy, smart decisions, timing and positioning are other important factors.
LOL @Risky I apologize, the post wasn’t really directed to you, it’s more to me… I was just thinking out loud hahaha (my bad I should’ve mentioned that or at least posted it in my own journal) but yeah anyways, I believe you can reach top 500 in Overwatch!! Didn’t mean to disturb ya lol just ignore me.
It’s fine, you had me thinking of ways I can perhaps influence my team through voice chat to encourage team work and timing. Because I sometimes don’t talk to my team mates all game. Simply because OW2 usually has a toxic element to it and sometimes a simple comment can trigger toxicity, so I avoid it.
Day 42 - RoM
Today I listened to RoM for 15 minutes. Then I worked a little and played some aim maps / aim practice games. And then I hit up some games in competitive Overwatch 2. Currently the daily stats are as follows:
Wins: 6
Loss: 5
I have been playing out of my mind today too. What is going on?
I am also trying to think of ways to create content, unique quality content that isn’t already being spam uploaded to Youtube. I think of highlights, but everyone does that. I am also thinking of “niched” games that aren’t that popular.
Day 43 - Rest
Today I played 5 games and won all, played Ashe mostly and I have been really good at her lately.
Anyway, I ended up gaining 2 ranks! I wen’t from Gold 1 to Platinum 4, so Gold1 → Platinum 5 → Platinum 4!
This is my highest so far in Overwatch 2, so I am happy. We’ll see if we’ll able to maintain at this point, if not, the journey goes on. Mastery is the goal!
I have also started on a YouTube gaming project, to work a little on my dream to also become a gaming content creator. Simply because I love gaming so much!
It’s going to be about Terraria.
I am also collecting Overwatch 2 highlights, to combine and make a highlights/montage video out of and upload to Youtube.
The goal is long term, as it’s not easy, but I hope dedication and hard work will pay off in a few years.
Hows it going so far?
Have you looked into improving your mental state before playing with meditation ,nutrition or supplements or whatever helps.
I definitely gotta stop eating sweets or bread before for playing feels like it turns my brain into a potato just wana lay down watch movies and sleep
Light exercise and water are helpful for me before something big or mentally demanding.
Supplements can help but need to see change over time as some need X weeks to take effect.
True, i find ashwanganda helps. Need to figure out a better diet for the mind for 2023 maybe i will make a post tomorrow for some suggestions.
I have looked into supplements, but they sometimes don’t give me the intended goals, or have some side-effect. If they work really well they also come with a cost.
For instance Ashwagandha makes me relaxed as a hindu cow, but also unmotivated, indifferent and sluggish. Stimulants can cause anxiety or sleep issues if used too carelessly. My favorite is a NAD+ supplement from ND. Currently using their vit d+k2, EPA omega3 and Polygala at work. I have plans to evaluate like 10 supps I got from
them, to avoid using all at once and risk unknown side effects. No time right now.
Nootropics wise I am exploring and haven’t found perfect combo. I do suck at hydrating, need to step that up. Also about to start a md phase. My current diet is far from optimal and in holiday spirit I ate lots of sugar and haven’t exercised any. Going back to that next week.
It’s going good, some anxiety and sleep issues, trying to solve them with l-theanin, apigenin and magnesium, to no avail. Game wise progressing. Played insanely lately. How about you? What supplements do you use?
Reading this, I was thinking if you considered forming a team (if you haven’t already)? If you play with random people, that sense of camaraderie and support may be lacking. Being in a group of people you already know well allows for greater communication, organization and breeds a sense of friendly competition. It’s also significantly more predictable, allowing you to try out strategies that you otherwise couldn’t do without that level of teamwork. Also, a top player who’s above you in ranking could guide you as leader, if not you could then learn to be a leader and have more control over the actions of your team. Either way, you’ll have an advantage.
Just some food for thought.
It is easier for sure with a team, less variables like random players like you said, more consistency. Also Luthers food for thought would apply much better if I had a team.
I am not looking to go pro really, just high ranked, so a team as such is not for me. I am though open to adding friends and teaming up with them. Likeminded, positive players. I’ve thought of adding IC at somepoint to faciliate this. Gaining similat benefits as if I were in a team, also wouldn’t require me to practice and game as much as a pro team.
So definitely looking for more consistent team mates, although I must admit I haven’t been actively seeking them. Perhaps I shall join a discord community and see if I meet some cool people.
You’re actually in luck! GMX already has this, it’s on the sales page.
Finally, for the pro gamers out there with a desire for greatness, Gaming Mastery ZP helps you find teachers and partners to play with, pushes you to learn more and grow your reputation, while manifesting incredible opportunities and situations for you to make great moves business wise – after all, a pro player must have some business acumen and a sense of showmanship.
From the Objectives list:-
Manifest opportunities, people and teacher to play with.
Joining a Discord community or interacting with other Youtubers/Twitch streamers would open up those pathways to finding good friends/teammates
Oh you’re right! I forgot about it. So I guess put some effort into finding these people. Discord othet social places online with relevant communities to help the subs with pathways.
That’s awesome, I need to reread the objectives, this is very fitting for streaming as well, the part about showmanship.
Day 44 - GMX and ME
Excited for the latest ideas the saint has for GMX, hoping they turn to fruition.
Anyway I played 3 games and won 2.
The second game was rough, the matchmaking put me in a game with people 2 ranks higher than me to test me after my success lately. It was rough, and I realized I have ways to go. I need to reflect on this game, I can sense a breakthrough and alot of lessons (growth) to be had from it.
I haven’t listened to the subs today, early in the day as I usually do. And now it’s date night and movie time, so I shall listen to the subs right before bed.
This is weird, but I have talked to Open AI about how to improve as a content creator and I realized whenever I get advice I just assume what is told, and then try to implement it and try it out. But now I realized (courtesy of RoM perhaps) that I assume what the definition for different things, and should ask what they mean. Because a definition can explain alot.
Example one tips it gave me, which is obvious and everywhere, is to provide commentary. But what is commentary? My definition is diffused. So I asked for the definition and examples, and now I have a much clearer picture of what it is. Now I can implement the idea or improve upon it with a clear definition of it. Weird.
I guess it’s like a SMART goal, if it’s not well defined, how do you know you’re progressing or have achieved it?
