A tribute to the great pianist and conductor Lars Vogt. He died of cancer yesterday, much too young, aged 51. Not only was he a gifted musician, he also was a wonderful warm-hearted person. He was my door-to-door-neighbor for seven years until about four years ago.
He said once in an interview, that if he had only ONE more piece to play, it would be this - Chopin’s nocturne in C sharp minor. He played it dozens of times as an encore in his concerts, like he did here.
R.I.P., Lars Vogt (1970-2022).
