I found out about them when I was in high school, and a friend introduced them to me. I think he had āBlue Bell Knollā. There was also a video compilation he had called āLonely is an Eyesoreā that was released by the media label 4AD that had a few of their alternative bands, such as Clan of Xymox, and Dead Can Dance, as well as the Cocteau Twins.
āGarlandsā was their first album, I think. Less ephemeral and much more grungy.
When people donāt know who the Cocteau Twins are, I tell them āItās like Enya only a million times betterā. When I was living in Columbus OH, there was a theater up the street from me that had concerts. One day, I saw an announcement on the theater sign that said the Cocteau Twins were coming. I didnāt go, and I regretted it, until that same friend told me that in concert they donāt sound so good because of their heavy use of reverb and pseudo-echoes.
