I guess some people just have an awfully calibrated social radar, which ends them in hot water often because it results in horrible misinterpretations of their communicative efforts, resulting in their posts being flagged and their message being lost. But guesses are frequently wrong, so I guess I may be incorrect. Whether I am or not is anybody’s guess.
I would like to repeat something I have often stated. Human beings in large groups prefer not to think, they like to be led. But just like we can resist subliminals without even realizing it, we also often resist other people’s attempts to guide us to do things which would improve our life.
I myself have often used a manipulative skillset (which something like Power Can Corrupt provides) to motivate people into doing something which helps them by making them think it was their idea in the first place. I essentially help them get out of their own way. After figuring out what it is they actually want.
I have also been able to defuse volatile people because I could confuse them while they were in an agitated state, and the confusion lasted long enough that it interrupted the thought process which was making them volatile in the first place.
What I’m trying to say is that even though the sub is indeed geared more towards a dictator than a Primus Inter Pares (first among equals), there is still the concept of a beneficial benevolent dictatorship, where the leader is genuinely working towards the well-being of his or her people.
The Dalai Lama would probably add some other modules. But in the grand scheme of world politics, the Dalai Lama is the one that hasn’t been home since 1959 and whose country is pretty much under military occupation by people running different subs.
As sad as it might be, in my opinion the best way to survive in the political playground right now is to have the skills in jayvee’s sub down, combined with an unshakable motivation to do some real good. Once solidly fortified on the political stage, make the sub lighter and add more cooperative and people-modules. If they didn’t break your positive outlook by that time, you could make real positive change happen.
