9 months later… an idea. @Pyro I know you also posted about visual subliminals recently.
How many here own a VR headset like a Quest or Quest2? Particularly any device supporting OpenXR and Vulkan.
I know the life chargers were designed for mobile, but I imagine with the 3D audio spatialization of the Oculus and some other headsets, as well as 3D immersive graphics at normal speed or 120Hz, a pretty immersive audio visual experience could be created.
This could be integrated with simple games or watching videos. Obviously AV are the simplest senses to integrate using existing tech. Smell and taste can’t really be integrated without instruction to the user; an aspect of touch could be added via haptics or simulated with ASMR techniques.
My question here would be… what sort of integration of visual components do y’all think would play nicest with your typical usage of subs? What do you see AV immersive subliminals or immersive meditations as being, or as they would apply to life chargers? I know there are VR programs like TRIPP and Liminal out there which kind of play on this mood altering aspect of VR already. The simplest kind of immersive environment you can create is a skybox.
Reason I ask: I’m at the point in my VR development journey where I want to start testing out creation of immersive environments. More as a fun kind of side project initially, but if it has potential and ppl want it to progress further we could look at how to achieve that.
The technology: I’m using Rust with Hotham (currently 0.2.0). It uses a combination of oddio and symphonia. The typical default audiocontext boilerplate takes in content read from mp3s rather than expanding to the full range symphonia supports, but that tends to be what the subs are stored in anyway. The audio system supports creating sound emitters at different points in 3D space and combining them/rotating them/moving them.
At the moment this is still just a fantasy idea in my head, but I’m open to it growing from suggestions people can give to inspire
