Obviously the final decision should still be yours to make.
My suggestion was mainly to help out, so that we could lend a hand, and make a wise decision that could keep the forum’s peace in tact.
May I humbly suggest some sort of screening beyond mere post count for this level then; it is ridiculously easy to get to this level very quickly by (IMHO) spamming the forum with rather useless posts, endless questions about the same thing regardless of how many times people have already answered it, etc.
Yes please.
I know what you guys are thinking. Doesn’t that guy have anything better to do than create memes? Nope. No, I don’t.
This won’t be a new level. The individuals will be selected by @DarkPhilosopher and @RVconsultant. Myself and Fire will confirm their choices unless we have strong objections.
I agree. You all who are writing are old members, so it is easy for you to say let’s gatekeep.
The reason I am on this forum is that there was another forum on subliminal where I tried to register to ask questions, but my email needed to be validated by an admin. Like 3 months later the admin hadn’t validated my email. (I think up to now they still haven’t validated my email). Then I found subliminalresults.
Bottom line I am here and happy my point I guess the bad egg is like 1 in 100 maybe users. Does it worth it to be more stringent that you are now? I dont know. Already new users here are restricted in PMs, how many times they can post etc.
That has very little to do with us and more to do with the default settings of the forum software. It prevents bots and takes about 3 days of visiting I believe. Once you’re Trust level 1 things open up.
Be glad you don’t get a reCaptcha with every post. That would cause some major recon.
That’s why the Forum Ambassador role – ask @DarkPhilosopher yourself, since he was once one – didn’t have the ability to ban, or edit posts, or close threads. But, their flags hold a lot of weight. Then, it’s reviewed by one of us and we find that the Ambassador is being overzealous, we can strip them of that position. They will not serve as philosopher kings and the such.
I meant the level of Arch-Alchemist. I’ve seen some people get there in 2-3 months and (again, IMHO) much of their post volume is such inane drivel that is hard to believe it’s anything but fodder to drive the post count up.
Yes, what I mean is that just achieving Arch Alchemist won’t put you in the running for becoming a Forum Ambassador. You still need to show the qualities we’re looking for in someone with power at our company, including knowledge of the titles. It is also not a paid position, but you do get access to some free subs, allowing you to test them and provide feedback to the community.
If you’re worried about us becoming totalitarian because of this, don’t be. We’re simply admitting that we grew a lot quicker than anticipated and we need some help. I personally want to restore the feeling of adventure and positivity the forum had when we first opened.
Remember the first day of the ZP public preview?
Was one of the most beautiful days on the forum
I do. Very exciting time, and we want that level of fun and excitement again.
I’m not worried about that in the slightest.
It just rankles me a bit when some people spend considerable time crafting legitimately thoughtful and helpful posts that enrich the community (so many to choose from, but I’ll pick @Malkuth as an example as a member who does this) and then another person comes along and posts a thousand variations on “cool stack bro” and “what do you think of this?” and hits the same rank in a matter of weeks.
A pet peeve of mine, nothing more.
Through all of this drama I’m just surprised @Meng123 passed away I’m not sure how you guys found out. Sometimes I wonder what happened to certain members when they stop posting or disappear, it never occurred to me it could be because they passed away. May meng RIP
That was a glorious day indeed. I actually felt like I had a purpose beyond just being the guy who does stuff to pay the bills.
And it led to unsolicited nudes.
Members such as yourself are already helping out.
Flags. Positive comments to others. Posting your experiencing. Posting ideas to help others. Etc.
Just throwing it out there that @GoldenTiger should 100% be considered as a Forum Ambassador should the role be brought back.
What Haven’t posted in ages
After reading more on this thread I also noticed this being on the forum from january 2019… The growth is in no way bad, but definitly changed the dynamic of growth. I appreciate the nomination my mate @bombayduck (now that you changed name can I say I tryed Muay Thai at your gym? )
And knowing this, I would definitly nominate @RockyHandsome a.k.a. BlackTiger a.k.a. BlackAdder, a true man of focus, commitment and sheer fucking will! He has been here before me and is always taking action!
Edit : He is also able to keep a cool head at a situation
It isn’t about the frequency of posts, it’s about finding people who go on the forum and who are objective, fair and mature (a.k.a. don’t get caught up in shit-posting like myself lol).
You already have
Oh yeah you are right! Must be the fighter’s blood talking
You are also right! Well now it’s out, you a good coach!
