Please give me career advice

I am 24 yrs old computer engineering from southeast Asia. The community here is magnificent so, I would like to spill my feels in hopes that I will get some pointers. I need to get myself into a career with long term prospects soon. My parents are asking me to join the public service commission. The pay is about 500 usd per month (ik ) but it’s considered good here. I absolutely don’t wanna do this simply because of the pay.

I have tried different businesses:

  • podcast clipping and UGC creation (content creation for promoting sales) for websites like whop. I stopped doing this when my insta got banned coz I opened too many of them.
  • I took a month creating a cool ai automation for lead nurturing. It’s almost done but I have no motivation to finish it. Plus ai system’s are finicky by nature so making someone pay for it when it doesn’t work perfectly 100% of the time doesn’t feel right to me. And this just sounds like a headache to maintain. I am seriously getting burned out by coding.
  • I did cold call alot for creating UGC content. My calling was good and one client I was cold calling straight up offered me a job coz he thought I was a great hustler. I didn’t take it coz I want to own a business and due to a health issue, I don’t wanna interact wid co-workers for long time every day.
  • I learnt American English pronunciation coz that seems like a good skill to have.
  • now I am trying to learn trading while running c&c. Idk if I can do this.

I feel like I try my best in the beginning but when the moment comes to collect pay check, something one or other doesn’t work out. Please give me some advice.

Yours truly,
Oloy

Will try to give advice, but I’m curious about a few things first, if you don’t mind.

Did you go to uni or self- taught?

Care to explain what this is? Is it a job? Is it like welfare?

Have you worked as a developer for a company?

I have a degree.

Public service commission means working for the government.

I have never had a job before. (My excuse for this is: it’s normal here to get Ur degree then get a job. I got my degree then tried starting businesses)

Try to get that sales job, it will suck for a while till you get used to it, then those same sales skills will be useful later on in business.

You already got the accent down

My issue is I am dealing wid a mental health issue that prevents me from dealing wid others (co workers) face to face for a whole day. I can do sales calls but I would have to be alone.

Kinda weird, I know. Do U have any business or subliminal suggestion? I am not sure if it is correct to reveal what I just did.

But it is what it is.

My parents want me to prepare for the government job (for like 6 months to a year) then pass the exam.

Then for the government job will you be able to sit face to face with people and do your job. Its a public sector job so you will have to deal with a lot of people on a daily basis

And whats the issue by the way, if you dont mind telling

I am assuming I will heal by then. Sub club subs have created rapid progress within me.

My issue is hyper empathy. I feel others emotions in a heightened state resulting in me feeling overwhelmed if I interact with them for too long.

I see, that’s a pickle. Is there possibilities to get remote jobs and freelance work, as a software engineer, that way you have more control over it and can do work and meetings around your challenge.

What kind of government roles are there? Perhaps there are ones where you are in nature a lot? Like a park ranger.

Remote sales job sounds good. I think I will try that. I do have to learn to speak English fluently (I can write well, I have good pronunciation, but talking what I have on mind on English is something I haven’t done before).

I have come to dislike coding (I am getting burned out). Maybe I could use new rich trader for trading.

For a computer engineer: I would have to maintain I.T. systems. No need to code.

Don’t know how feasible it is, but maybe remote data entry jobs? With help of AI.

Just saw some article headline or something like that. Didn’t read it. So you’ll have to do your own research.

Check out how often there’s face to face interactions. It’s all probably done remotely.

Hey hoppa, appreciate Ur input.
But data entry sounds like I am overqualified for that. But I will check if data entry wid ai is something I would like

As of now, wid U guy’s input and my parents’ council: I have decided to try a remote sales job for IT companies in my language while practicing English speaking on the side.
I will also have to call that gentleman who offered me a job (as I said on the top post), maybe he has some remote sales SAAS/IT contact.

Also, I appreciate U guys’ input. Please keep them coming.:white_heart:

Could be a side gig while building a business

Might as well write here where my mind went:

As a side gig, you learn how to do it really well. Maybe you can automate it with AI. Once you figure it out with good accuracy, you build a micro SaaS out of it. Then variations for different types of small businesses.

Dunno, but could be a nice little business.

With Claude Code you could probably spin it up in couple of weeks.

From another perspective this “issue” could be turned into an asset. But of course that is a radical path shift: healing, coaching…
I can only assume what Limitless Raikov (which I am going myself to use soon) would do here. You already have this channel of relating with people on deeper layers, hence feeling their emotional states.

Usually what seems to be “problems” they exist as signals. And the first question could be: “What if…?”.
