New Support Article: List of Certified Subliminal Club Headsets and Earbuds for Maximum Results

I’m glad someone asked about this. ANC is a setting that uses an extra microphone to cancel low-frequency ambient noise (think car engines, traffic, etc). Those reviews are talking about passive noise cancellation or “noise isolation”, which is how the physical build of tithe headphones blocks external noise. There’s nothing to worry about with PNC.

The AKG K240STUDIO and Audio-Technica ATH-M20x don’t have ANC (most wired headsets don’t), but AirPods will.

Full disclosure, I collect headphones. Last year I played subs using 10 different pairs from half as many brands. Always happy to share thoughts and recommendations.

So it’s Bluetooth?

Which are your favorites for subliminal listening?

Did you notice any difference in effect/results?

No, you can get wired ANC. There’s just less market demand for them. ANC’s biggest market is commuters.

EPOS Adapt, Bose QC (they’re on Saint’s Rec list) and JBL Tour Pro (current pair).

Did you notice any difference in effect/results?

Finding the audio sweet spot (volume, quality and comfort), was much harder with budget to mid-range earbuds. With Soundcore specifically I needed lower volumes or I’d get nasty headaches. Meanwhile JBL and Bose earbuds have such great sound quality, I’d forget I was playing a sub and go over time.

Thank you for your insights!

Cheers!

Considering buying one of these

Is it tour pro 1 or 3?

And i guess this is the pair thats given you most of your results

Tour Pro 3. I must stress, these are premium earbuds. Price wise they’re comparable to Flagship Sony, Bose and the latest Airpod max. You can buy a midrange phone for the same price. Don’t waste your money on something to play subs.

Nah man. I’ve seen most of my results with these cause I wear them almost exclusive. Don’t conflate the the two.

They’re great utility earbuds that I wear all day. They have incredible sound, clear mics, long battery life and fast charging and easily connect to multiple devices. I don’t need dedicated headphones for work, home and phone anymore. So I’m wearing these all day. I’d see results with any pair, I just happen to wear these phones when I run subs.

Don’t get so caught up on the hardware. For 6 months I was using midrange Soundcore earbuds. The sound profile so bad I waks 3 months into a love bomb run before I realized you were supposed to hear birds when played a sub. My headphones would only pick up the bids on a very high volume. Yet I had incredible breakthrough during that period with those awful headphones.

I get results cause readily take action and I enjoy watching the process unfold. Read through the Dream Boy thread and you’ll see what I mean.

I’ve only been using wired headphones. Now I’m wanted to try some wireless and want some advice. I DON’T want recommendations on what headphones to buy. I only want info on how these headphones I already own below have worked for you and how to go about noise cancellation.

  1. Does anyone have experience using any of these headphones below?

    Beats Pro
    Samsung Buds Pro 3
    sony wh-1000xm5

  2. For best results on wireless headphones we have to turn off noise cancelling?

  3. Does using wireless on the WH-1000xm5 vs using it with the attachable wire make a difference?

I saw this post which helped. Any other posts would be appreciated:

I only ever listen masked subs either from my phone speaker (pixel 8) or from my Sony wh-1000 xm5.

In the firsts months I listened on my wh-1000 xm5 with noise reduction and had some results I think?
but since I read that post by Saint you put I no longer use the noise reduction, and I have had good results.

I wouldn’t be able to tell you how or by how much it changes between with noise reduc and without

but I know that when first switching from noise reduc to without it was hard on me, I had kind of a panicky headache the first few times

I still had some trouble I think after (more head pressure, but I’m not sure, it’s been a while).
I believe that when the noise reduc is off the headset still put out sound from outside, just without the wave flipping. I can hear a difference in the volume between when I got the headset with no noise reduction and no music and when the headset is off.
I believe this might be why.

I already listened to my sub today but I’ll try again with the headset the day after tomorrow and report back.

I use the WH-1000XM3 with good results. I keep noise cancellation and ambient sound off. I only use it via Bluetooth, not with a cable.
I’ve set the Bluetooth connection to LDAC to get the best possible sound quality.

Yea it would be cool to see how and why you’re seeing on you’re end! A lot interesting things you said about the difference in volume

I will give this a shot! It seems like from you’re posts you’ve had pretty good results with subs using this setup and taking action?

Where is the current list please?

As someone’s tested a lot of headphones and ear uds with their subs (no reason. JuST a collector), you’ll be fine with any modern, mid range pair (2021+, around 80-100 USD). Commercial headphones offer good quality for most price points. Stick with known brands to ensure quality and comfort (really overlooked). Avoid expensive flagship models unless you care about high quality audio in your daily life. They aren’t worth the price for subs

Dont over think your audio setup. The more you fiddle with the nuances, the more likely you are to self sabotage. Some of my best results came were with outdated soundcore buds on max volume with noise cancelation on.

Yes, I’m happy with the results using this setup.
I wish you all the best on your journey.

I have soundcore p30i noise cancelling bluetooth earbuds

Why were you listening on max volume?? Sounds like it could cause damage or recon

I was already listening to music at that level to drown noise. Soundcore has terrible ANC compared to others brands, had to run louder. I play subs at whatever volume I have on. Again, I dont over think this. Though I later found out those earbuds couldn’t pick up some sounds (e.g., birds) unless you are running them at maximum capacity. I eventually switched to comfortable ear buds I can run at a mid range all day.

Those ear buds let me set the db output, so I was always playing at a safe level no matter thr volume.

Ok so yesterday I listened to Khan on my Sony wh-1000-xm5
The first 4 minutes were with noise reduction, the last 11 without

With noise reduction I could feel some processing, but after turning it off the processing increased, I could feel my brain working more, perceptually it felt more “busy”, though less so than when I tried a few months ago, what I mentioned in my post earlier.
I suppose there might have been some recon mixed in back then.

So yeah, noise reduction seem to reduce the efficiency of the subliminals, maybe some of the words get warped /distorted by the treatment and so only part of the script is really heard?

But yeah no issue otherwise when noise reduction is disabled

Awesome! You’re wild listening to 15 minutes of Khan, you must of mastered it. That subtlety you noticed when switching from NC to normal is good to know. You inspired me to try it out without NC!
