I’d like to ask the gentlemen here their takes on the best supplementation for preparing to fight. I take already beef bone and marrow and wouldn’t mind any wisdom my way
How much weight are you cutting?
I’m not cutting weight. I’m looking for a supplement to physically shift into a more efficient machine
More long term shifting, no time limit
Metabolic efficiency? Reaction time? Regeneration/recovery efficiency?
Preferably “what would you take as a whole stack if you were me”
Do you need to adhere to WADA regs re: performance enhancing substances?
No just natural supplements that would aid my physical shifting and quick rise
If it were me, I’d be looking at this as a stack starting point:
HMB Free Acid for building strength
Citrulline malate for enhanced energy and endurance during training and fights
Beta-alanine for enhanced training capacity
Maca and/or Corcydeps for boosting ATP and general stamina
Phenylpiracetam for endurance and strength boosting, as well as enhancing focus
Rhodiola rosea to combat training stress
L-theanine to promote calm focus, very effective when stacked with caffeine
N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine for intense focus during fights
CDP Choline for enhancing neuromuscular communication for more effective movement
Vinpocetine for increasing blood flow to your brain and body
TB500 + BPC157 peptides for reduced recovery times
Of these, TB500 and phenylpiracetam are synthetics but the rest fall within my classification of natural.
That’s a great list. Another synthetic I’d look into is cardarine.
I’ve got nearly empty bottles of Ostarine and Cardarine on my desk right now, as my lab rat had been taking them… I skipped mentioning those as I don’t think anyone would consider them natural supplements, plus they’re not available in many parts of the world.
But if we’re going there… RAD-140 is also something my lab rat is really eager to try.
Ostarine and RAD-140 will 100% suppress your hormones since they’re SARMs, so definitely not natty (some would disagree, but I think that’s just cope).
Cardarine’s a PPAR that doesn’t impact the hormonal system, so I would consider that to still be natty (still banned by WADA though).
Ahh right, that definition of natural. I tend to think plant-based vs synthetic, but yep.
Cardarine is nice… though tbh I found my energy purely from being solidly in ketosis to be superior to anything my lab rat ever got from even 20mg/day dosing of Cardarine.
I’m considering TRT, and if I do that… definitely ordering some RAD-140.
And one can take all that long-term? No periodical washouts needed?
I have to wonder what the actual return on investment is though. If you end up spending a small fortune for a 2% boost in performance (ever read the 4-Hour Body by Tim Ferriss?), maybe save it for competition season. At that point your body may even respond better to it since it is not used to it.
I remember when I went to a store specializing in supplements for fighters. I had an entire list of stuff, brought it to the counter. The guy threw it all back in my cart, put it back on the shelves and told me to take a protein supplement, a strong multivitamin (you’ve got ones made for sporty/active people) and some Creatine. Then he told me to do that for at least 6 months while eating healthy and if I really felt I needed more, we might look into my Testosterone levels and something to boost those.
A store which didn’t want my money, it was a pleasant surprise.
Still my baseline supplements, together with electrolytes, omegas and probiotics (which are not sports-related). I may add some nootropics when I know a fight is coming up. Since I rarely take coffee, the caffeine which comes with most all-in-one nootropic supplements will put me in hyper-alertness overdrive.
I sometimes see people preparing for a competition/match with an energy drink and it makes me cringe. Haven’t done those since I studied at a dojo where the master would actually kick you out if he smelled Red Bull on you. He always said “What comes up will inevitably come down… hard. Allow your body to regulate itself.”
As an experienced faster I’m still not entirely certain if the energized feeling during ketosis is actual energy in the body or simply the brain working faster. It may feel like I can take on the world, but the few times I tried… mistakes were made.
Anybody else wondering why he keeps saying “lab rat” in cursive?
Yes. Wonder what that’s about, lol. I hope @BLACKICE doesn’t have anyone trapped in his basement, Buffalo Bill-style.
Haha something I picked up from a book I read; the author was using a ton of “research chemicals” and to avoid having anyone say he was giving medical advice (and also to avoid people emulating him, potentially unsafely), he had a running joke about testing them instead on a “lab rat” which just happened to have the same weight, height and biochemistry as him.
The reference may not have been obvious, but I hope everyone realized I’m the lab rat
