Shadow work is super simple. I’ve done it with clients and myself for a long time. It’s shining the light of awareness on the parts you hide subconsciously—not trying to banish it, but understanding that it happened for a reason.
Like, x event happened that was traumatic for you, consciousness split into two, one part went into the dark. And understanding even that part, even if it holds you back in life, it was always just created to keep you safe.
The problem lies in how it thinks it keeps you safe. It does not care if it hides from relationships, or is ruining your life, as long as its interpretation is that it keeps you safe from x.
And then letting that part of you feel safe by giving it love, and then reintegrating it in a healthy way into you.
There are also projections, introjections, and split ego states. Introjections are beliefs or behaviors you just took from your parents, usually without understanding it.
Introjections you give back. Projections you take back. And split ego states, you merge.
I see shadows a bit like your inner child. And you should treat it like it’s a child—you don’t banish it or hate it. You let it feel seen and loved, and take care of it, but don’t let it be the boss.
That’s a very shortened explanation, but yeah.
And then you embody the energy that comes from the emptiness of where the hurt was, and a new awareness opens up. Super fascinating.
You can also have shadows in different stages of ego development, and in different value systems.
Like, you can be more green stage, but have a shadow that’s more in red stage.
Like, your life might feel great, but then something triggers it, and you feel like you just went back five years into your self-development, because that part of you is so undeveloped.
Like being in a relationship is a fantastic way to find shadows, Cause girls are great at triggering your shadows,
Sometimes you even trauma bond, Been there done that, (not healhty) but hey atleast you get tons of triggers to work with XD.
