Has anyone else noticed that ZP affects the people around them so much
The file size is smaller in the flac version over the wav version, because it uses (lossless) compression, whereas wav uses no compression.
For example Ascension Chamber (Masked) file:
But the data in the files is identical.
To be clear, lossless compression means you can recover 100% of the information after decompression, the same as if you had never compressed it. Mp3 uses lossy compression, so it achieves the smaller size partly by removing data it considers disposable.
Hmm, what’s interesting is that Ascension Chamber (Ultrasonic) flac is only 10.7MB, which is smaller than the mp3. Emperor files have a huge difference in size as well.
Mp3tag says the masked version has a bitrate of 1569kbps, and the ultrasonic version has a bitrate of 214kbps. So something odd going on there.
@SaintSovereign can you check this please?
AsCh FLAC won’t do any good on iOS anyways since the file can’t be loaded into iTunes.
You need Lossless Audio Converter or you can hear .flac with the VLC Media Player.
Now, I’m beginning to understand why this whole flac, wav, 320 discussion is relevant. Now I understand.
@SaintSovereign is FLAC supposed to be 213kbps? Just wondering, I’m not as experienced in this matter much
Stark, Ascension, Emperor, and Wanted. Those I’ve seen a lot of people have the most experience with.
Ultrasonic uses a different build method than masked. Each ultrasonic may have different bitrates. I have no way of predicting what it is, Q does it automatically.
EDIT: I’ll have to check in a bit to make sure the ultrasonic is being processed properly, but I’m pretty sure it is.
By the way, I PMed you. Have you check my messages out?
Maybe you should turn down the volume
I listen on headphones but honestly I really thought for a moment that I exposed my friends so weird
If you have an iPhone and want to try the flac version, get Vox media player from the app store; it supports the file type!
You’re the real MVP
ELI5 please?
It’s an audio format that’s supposed to sound better.
I noticed the newer version is less noisy and smoother for me. Maybe cos I changed headset. But I’ve noticed the previous version sometimes gives me headache when it’s a bit louder but this newer version doesn’t seem it’ll be giving me any headache even when they volume was a bit loud
