Depends on your goals. I would wait until Thursday when the updated Limitless is released, compare the two with your goals and go from there. If you have the time and patience QL is the way to go.

I’m going to second the advice @James gave of using freeCodeCamp, unless you have some reason to get a certification.
If you’re looking to become an employee of a big software development company, on the one hand that takes a lot of pressure off of you to bring your own projects to market in a financially viable time sensitive way, but it also puts you at the whim of the requirements of the hiring company. This could involve things like having taken a certain experimental medicine, espousing the right DEI ideas, and most importantly: proving that you can code well and socialize well enough to fit into the company’s ecosystem.
Some companies may want a formal certification, but more often being able to demonstrate previous successes (such as pointing to software you’ve helped to create or submit patches to etc) will be what they’re after.
On the other hand, writing your own projects is easy in that the pre-quirements are not as large, but the time required to bring a project to a point where you can soft launch it without fear of damage to to your own public reputation as a software developer is likely to be on the order of several months. For me, it’s taken almost a year to develop all the code to write virtual reality apps in a way that I’m comfortable with in Rust from scratch and develop a marketing plan to begin to attack publicizing the app.
During this time, you’re going to need financial support. Index Gate may shorten the learning curve, but there’s also countless unexpected pitfalls, especially in the languages where memory management is not handled automatically for you. Reference invalidation, thread safety and such are big issues. Thankfully Javascript is not one of those languages (and I hesitate to even call Javascript a language, but I suppose technically it is)
I would personally suggest, having examined the problem myself, that you document your journey meticulously online via vlog, as you have the potential to have other people who want to do the same as you willing to support you to continue producing vlog or development content. I’m about to begin a phase of going in-depth into Rust VR development with Hotham, which is a very niche topic and has its reasons for people going down that path. You need to find a niche which is fairly unique to you if you choose this path. Remember, you’re always selling a product, whether its an app you’ve written, or knowledge of the process you’ve taken before someone else, etc.

The next couple of years are going to be very exciting for users of IG who are working in the VR space. Meta recently announced their decision to combine the App Lab store with the regular Quest store, rebranding it as the Horizon Store, and expanding their OS offering to work on other hardware.
What this means is that, barring any hitches, creating cross platform virtual reality applications that work on multiple devices is about to become a lot easier, and the process of getting an app approved to run on these devices is being simplified.
There are concerns that are obviously to be expected with the possibility of Meta’s store becoming a more singular source of truth (how is it going to affect side loading apps for example? Will Meta put more restrictions on content they haven’t curated?), but it certainly simplifies the process for developers, and is going to make it more lucrative to create VR apps due to having a wider market of devices to operate on.

@Floridianninja A new version of index Gate I believe will be released, featuring integration via a virtual streaming channel directly to the brain, effectively integrating your brain’s hemispheres with ChatGPT. You might want to get this as it could prove an absolute asset for your future.

I am pretty sure that custom is the exact reason why my interest has piqued so much for programming/coding/ game development/ and writing. I mean for years I said I wanted to give it a shot but that was about as far as I went.
Well I’ve been interested in writing and have dabbled here and there but nothing too profound but who knows what can happen this year.

The new version of Index Gate is now available. If you’re purchased it in the past, it’ll be in your downloads within the next few hours. The file name is labeled (May 2024).
