Day 13
Revelation of Mind, RICH
One of the beautiful things about RoM is how it gives me a different perspective on stories or principles or quotes etc that I have heard before.
For example, the bible verse “What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?”.".of course the literal interpretation is about salvation. And teachers and priests are very wise in using that verse in different ways. But I remembered that verse a few days ago and immediately thought “What’s the use of knowing everything about everyone else but lacking in knowledge about my own self. Or even worse, knowing myself and not doing anything useful with that knowledge”.
Another one was about the seven sins. I used to wonder why things like lust was a sin? Or why was is that feeling bad? But then I immediately realized, It’s not that lust by itself is bad. But being in a vibration of lust all the time, makes us act in weird ways. For example, looking like a perv, or being easily manipulated by our preferred sex who can use our lust to get their way, or not being able to be productive because of Porn addiction, etc. But when we are in a situation of seduction, feeling lust is entirely a good thing.
In the same way, the momentary pride in one’s accomplishment is okay. But don’t let ourselves be In a constant state of prideful drunkeness else it will make us blind to a coming fall or non-objective when we have to make certain decisions thinking that we are perfect.
Similarly, ee can apply the same principle with the other “sins” as well and there are times when anger, sloth, gluttony, etc are okay in small doses. When the occasion calls for it. But don’t be in a constant state of “sin”. It doesn’t help us get anywhere. Even from a solely pragmatic or utilitarian perspective.
And finally, today i had this flash of memory about an old children’s cartoon come to mind where King Arthur pulls the sword out of the stone as a boy after which he went on to be the unstoppable warrior and leader. I thought to myself, all of us have that sword we can pull out of ourselves which we can use to be the conquerer of our life. The sword of our purpose. And we can have more than one sword too which we use at different times. One sword of being a writer and another of being a parent for example. All we do is look within ourselves and pull the purposes out that will make us happy and make the world a better place.
Don’t go looking at other people’s purposes for our own (although we can look at theirs for inspiration if we have similar purposes). It will be like someone other than Arthur trying hard to lift Excaliber. It’s not their sword. Which is why they didn’t succeed in claiming it.
Interestingly the name Excaliber means hard belly or voracious which I interpret to mean the fire in the belly we all have. And the hunger with which we seek our mission in life and when discovered, are filled with energy and a passion to live pursuing it.
EDIT: and these thoughts weren’t coming to me cause I was reading or watching or thinking of anything related at that time. It just came randomly as if the memories were picked out of my mind haphazardly and the equivalent wisdom picked out of the ether.
