I have to admit this has gotten me interested again in the problem of searching corpuses in this way. I was looking at a similar problem back when I was originally working on VAERity, to find symptom texts or other free form texts that were similar without having to rely on the other data fields being accurate. I never ended up going down that path for much the same reasons as you mentioned, it was more important to get an initial release out before thinking about the problem. Looking at the literature, it seems like one of the big problems in AI, and there’s some pretty rigorous math around it.
Maybe it’s just Index Gate tugging at me, but it’s definitely perked my curiosity and I think its totally something IG could help attack.

I’m having some trouble deploying the program. its a flask backend. I tried “render” but am getting ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'langchain.document_loaders' error while deploying in “render”.
the program which didn’t work in “render” works locally (if i follow the exact same package installation process).
@emperor_obewan any thoughts?
what platform do u think i should deploy to?

I’m not familiar with a lot of backends, but the type of issue you mentioned is pretty common when deploying. There are a couple of possibilities, which seem to be covered in this stack overflow post. One is ensuring the proper python version is being used, the other is making sure your langchain installation is in your python path. If you’re using a venv running it on your local machine but then just deploying the files to the remote server, that could be causing the issue. Also depending on how your framework (flask) works, there might be settings within the framework to specify paths to allowed / installed modules, but check the first couple of possibilities first. You could try debug printing the environment to a local/temp file to make sure it is as you were expecting it to be.
This is how it looks, i’m having trouble deploying it tho. I tried “railway”, “render” and “pythonanywhere”. None worked. Anyone here have a spare VPS i could use?

Gah! I checked out render’s website: Specifying a Python Version | Render
Either their documentation is massively out of date, or they are way behind the curve. Python 3.11 came out late last year, I know this because I was waiting for vaex to support its functionality and had to install 3.10 instead. And langchain’s own documentation states a minimum python of 3.8 is required.
I don’t know if you’ve checked the deployed python version on those three platforms yet, but I personally wouldn’t touch a server with a default python version that old. It’s barely covered by security maintenance. In fact, Python 3.7 reaches end of support on the 27th of this month.
EDIT: It looks like pythonanywhere at least has a guide to deployment I’d suggest reading Deployment Options — Flask Documentation (2.0.x)
If you look at How to change python version : Forums : PythonAnywhere this is an example of someone who had the same type of error as you did because they didn’t follow the recommended deployment configuration. They also mention you can set the default version of python used on your Accounts page – I would definitely suggest checking that to make sure its not 3.7. Oh, it looks like there is an official deployment FAQ page on pythonanywhere:

It’s definitely awesome. I wouldn’t necessarily put Unrelenting Wealth modules in a BJ custom. But I assume that it’s set to look for the best 20 modules or something?
It definitely gives one ideas to think about. IS there a way for it to offer less than 20 if, say, only 10 are the best match?
I want to make a custom that is 10 modules at some point. er…10 total components. 1 core and 9 modules, or 2 cores and 8 modules, etc.
I’ve always assumed a custom with 10 modules should kick in faster than one maxed out at 20. wanna test thta sometime.

the thing is if i made it to spit out only 10 modules, it would have missed modules like “inner gasoline” which is at the end of the result.
ultimately, u have to decide what modules to put in. The program is just recommendations.
Oh I don’t mean set it at 10. Just wondered if there’s a way to make it dynamic between 10 and 20 depending on the actual result vs query.
I don’t understand the AI stuff from the programming side enough to do this myself yet.
the problem is that the program doesn’t know how many “correct” modules there are in the q store (correct according to query). So i thought i’d just spit out 20 so the person using the program can decide for themselves which they want.

I can’t think of a way for the program to know how many “correct” modules there are and to select only those numbers of modules. maybe @emperor_obewan has ideas?
