What do you think are good skills to learn, that won’t be taken by AI in the next 5-10 years?
Manual work. Plumbing, electrician. Most Jobs won’t be fully overtaken by ai in next 10 years. That’s too little of time for full overtake.
High ticket sales
1st principles thinking, second order thinking, systems thinking.
Learning to ask the right questions. Critical thinking skills in general.
Don’t let the AI do the thinking for you.
Use it for thinking with you.
Just… Think about it
Honestly, the ability to learn/creativity IMO.
We just entered a renaissance and I believe that the biggest riches will go to the people that are most socially skilled, flexible, and fast to learn. Not necessarily the smartest or the most skilled in a single area, but people who can adapt rapidly and capitalize on the changing landscape of the world.
My prediction, is that the age of the single area master is ending, and we are returning to the age of the renaissance man: the polymath.
And with AI, it’s never been easier to learn any skill you want. You can pretty much use it as a personal tutor that never sleeps, never gets tired, and adapts with you in real time.
Basically people with high agency can achieve anything, and fast.
- Trades and physical craftsmanship
- Sales and negotiation
- Healthcare with a hands-on component
- Systems thinking and orchestration
- Communication and persuasion
- Emotional and relational intelligence
- Regulatory and compliance expertise
The common thread across the durable skills is some combination of physical presence, high-stakes judgement, relationship depth, or legal accountability.
If a skill requires you to be there, own the outcome, or build trust over months, it’s probably solid.
Someone finally said this!!!
Honestly, AI, robotic, and bio-robotic interfaces are evolving fast and we can only expect the evolution to get faster. You might need to explore a longer timeframe than the current one you set, possibly something even timeless.
@anon15812918 The only honest answer I can give to the your question are more questions that require you to find your own answer and you’ll see why in a bit.
What are things technology can’t emulate? What are things that humans value and things that speak to them?
The only two thing that currently answers the question for me are
What is real and what is fake?
The ability to distinguish what is human and what is not in any field or industry that exists and will ever exist going forward. A proof of humanity.
This is why we see the rise of a new age renaissance, the growth of digital communities, return of polymathism, rise of spirituality, the new evolution of luxury, fashion, healthcare, even marketing.
They’re all trends that indicate a return to something more human. It might become a proof of organic trust. Don’t be surprised if a new certification standard that says “100% human” becomes a thing.
I believe this going to be a viable industry till the next technological revolution.
Human AI integration
Human-Technology integration has always been a timeless problem and the same applies to the current tech age.
How can you implement and manage forthcoming technology in both simple and complex human processes?
Anything that satisfies this problem is already highly in demand. And will be until technology is smart enough to answer this problem for itself, which will be hard, as it requires human ingenuity.
Don’t be surprised when the age of “in-house AI consultants” become a staple in every company or even startups, the same way there are IT units now. It’ll probably become a staple in evaluating the value of companies, similar to the way we have “ESG” ratings (I think they’re bullshit though).
To proffer such an offering you will need to unveil your creativity and critical thinking as others have said earlier, and then, direct it towards these problems.
Note: I might be rambling some shit rn.
true, there are already things like that on some websites: Not By AI Not By AI
That’s some good answers everyone, I appreciate them. Keep them coming, let’s all benefit from this thread!
Thanks for the “Not by AI” plug. Time to go check it out
