Has anyone with aphantasia tried Mind’s Eye? How did it go?

Have been training with a bunch of aphantasia exercises, brain training, and neural pathway building on and off for a few years now, to minimal results but results nonetheless. So I can’t say there’s no hope for me but the amount of effort was not worth the minimal results. Curious to hear experiences with this sub from people that also have aphantasia

It’s better to practice consistently every day for a year than to go on and off. I haven’t seen any reviews here about cures or improvements for aphantasia, but I have heard that people with aphantasia have made significant progress with imagestreaming. There used to be someone on YouTube discussing this.

I have written about my own experience with imagestreaming on this forum. Its a remarkable technique, highly recommend

Yeah, definitely helped. I started practicing a few years ago; you can find some results if you dig in my Eyeless Sight Custom journal. Though I didn’t fully type down the details, and that was with Q version. It got even better when ZP was released, but I stopped for a while until this year where I have been listening to it in one of my customs. I’m only listening to it once a week.

That being said, yes, I have improved my inner sight now. In fact, as I was typing this, I was projecting my sight to different areas and memories of today, and as I write these very letters that you are reading now, I am able to conjure up vivid pictures of places I have been, all the way back to decades ago, and I can finally see the infernal red apple while my eyes are open. Still can’t project outside like someone with Hyperaphantasia, those people are both blessed and cursed, depending on the coin flip.

Also, though I have not been listening to Mind’s Eye exclusively after my custom a few years back, I did get a taste of it here and there, especially in RoM and Ultimate Writer X. UWX is helpful in this endeavor.

One of the things that was truly helpful is the encouragement. Non of that I can’t because I have this or that, it pushes through that internal barrier and reduces the mental energy when trying to visualize. I have had pictures as if I was in a PoV video, God, I badly want to put my hands on that 1967 Impala, or any of the 60/70s muscle cars.

My advice is to practice. Practice doing it in real time. What I mean is to try to bring up a picture or a sound soon after you encounter it, while its fresh. Then randomly do this through out the day. A dark room is also a perfect environment.

I wonder if the new ME is dropping today?

Thank you both very much for taking the time to reply! I’ll search through your previous posts for those writings on it

I wholeheartedly agree. Unfortunately I do have an illness that makes it very hard to do anything (bed bound in a dark room) when it flares up really bad. So inevitably there are going to be periods where all the energy I have go to health management and there isn’t much left for side projects like this. It is why I am considering this title exactly, so that when I can practice it might be all the more impactful, and I might be able to dial the intensity down. I used to train so hard I’d get blurry eyes and headaches, so if I can make the training less fatiguing, I’ll be able to do more on my bad days! And I agree that more consistent training is key here

I will look that up, very interested. I’ve done image streaming but found it more difficult to stay focussed on the exercise. I should really give that a try again, thanks for pointing this exercise out. I might try one today actually!

I will look that up as well! Very curious to read about your experiences.

Does that feel like a maintenance dose, or do you experience progress on this schedule? Interesting, I hadn’t considered using a title on a schedule like that (I’m very new to subs) but it does make sense!

That’s the aphantasia dream! Wow, you have no idea how fatastic that sounds. Or I guess you do  That must have been a lot of work to get there, congratulations!

Yeah that sounds amazing. I noticed that while at first I was relieved to learn why some things seemed much harder for me than seemingly everyone else, after a while I started to feel… constrained by the label. As if my brain gave up on trying. I highly believe in building new neural networks and practicing for skills we don’t have. So breaking past that label barrier and making practice less costly will be huge. Thanks so much for mentioning that it helped with that!

Yes, I will do! I’m making an “action” tracker to go with my subs to make sure I put in the work :muscle:

Ooooh is a new one coming out?

Thanks again to you both!

Today was that one day in a week; where I listened to it in part of a custom with 3 cores. I wouldn’t call it maintenance, there’s a definitive progress. In fact, I have progressed since my reply to you. See, your question and my reply to it, sparked an inspiration within me to follow up on my practice.

Today I reflected visually more so than usual, remembering details of every store that I entered, the people that were of interest during the my daily dealings, as well as anything that means something to me; such as that muscle car that I spoke about. In a matter of fact, I saw one today lol, not that exact one that is my desirable car, but a newer model of a Mustang. These cars are extremely rare to sight in the country I am in now. They’re a dime in a bucket before I moved her.

The PoV that I am able to conjure is definitely not a result of a maintenance dose. There is always a progress. No denying, however, that when used on its own, or more focusedly, the training and results that you’d reap are multiplied.

Haha, yeah. You’re taking me back to the days when I started asking everyone I know AND strangers if they can see things with their minds eye, if they can freaking dream, if when we say picture this or imagine that, are they actually doing it?? Worst of all, my partner was on the other side of the aphantasia spectrum, she could project anything and everything, with a touch of synesthesia.

Speaking of which, I still haven’t experienced that one.

I know what you mean. There’s no doing that for me, it just turns on. My eyes would just go up and move around as if there’s a screen within a screen, but I would be looking into a memory or visualizing.

Yes, any day now, could be today. It was teased about 4 months ago.

Oh wow, that all sounds so exciting and how special that you actually saw that car! Almost as if the universe threw a little motivation your way  I love when those kind of synergies pop up.
That’s great that there is progress like that, I will have to keep in mind that I can do schedules like that too!

This sounds so familiar! I went around asking everyone about it as well. Turns out I know lots of people who are above average in visualisation, all the way up to playing movies in their head while reading. My partner is very good too, even a touch of synesthesia as well. It was a bit overwhelming to find out.

You are giving me motivation to go ahead with this title for sure! I’ll keep an eye on the page for that update

Lol. I started reading a novel yesterday.
And I instantly saw a film in my head.
I don’t have any problems seeing the supermarket I went to yesterday.

But seeing something in my head is completely different from seeing something in the real world.
Like seeing a apple in my hand.
Nope. Can’t do it.
Not the slightest.

I don’t have aphantasia, but I used to believe I did. I could not visualize at all.

Meanwhile, when I meditated, I always saw trains passing by that felt super real, so obviously I could visualize—or, well, my subconscious could.

However, visual is just one of the senses. I’m more auditory, so it really helped me when I started visualizing by first imagining the sounds, and from that, the visuals appeared.

Another idea is to look up eye accessing cues. I don’t have aphantasia, so I can’t really know for sure.

Something else you can try, which I used to do, is writing things down by hand super slowly. It makes your mind read it. And I mean, forming every word very slowly. When I did that, images and feelings of what I wanted started to grow.

That’s all—best of luck on your journey! Hopefully one of my ideas helps. If not, feel free to disregard it.

And mind’s eye really helped me visualize i even started to get smell in which was teh hardest by far for me to visualise.

I’ll definitely double for image streaming. I never had aphantasia, but poor imagenary power at times.
After practicing for some time, I started having almost like real life images when i close my eyes. Daydreaming was as watching a movie. Besides imagenary eye, you’ll improve your memory, reasoning ability and intellect. Excellent training

All of your stories are really giving me motivation to get started on this! Thanks so much for your responses

Oh for sure! All the senses are on a scale for visualisation, even spatial, textures, balance, etc I found are places where you can have more or less aptitude in. I would say not all of my senses start at 0 for aphantasia but they are all very low. My sense of texture is best developed I think, as I can imagine what it would be like to walk through grass or sand. I think it would be marvelous to be able to smell cut grass and hear the wind rustling through it once I get the training going for multiple senses

I recognise what you say about meditation visuals as well. I get flashes here and there that are for sure full images in color. They kinda float in a sea of black, so I agree the subconscious can do some interesting stuff there. My dreams are vivid as well, full color images that look like real life.

Thanks for all the training suggestions, I wrote them down on a list so I can use them as actions. Funny you should mention writing, I was doing an evaluation session of all my imagenary senses and I realised that I can imaging how it feels to write words fairly well. So I can’t picture the word and letters visually, but can feel myself writing it. Very interesting, thanks for the idea!

Wow, those are great results! I’m impressed. Did you use mind’s eye with this or are those results from image streaming alone?

Ive been doing solely Image streaming, I think at some point I’d even say I had hyperphantasia with that) I bet with mind eye sub combined with IMS you’ll get amazing results

Wow, that sounds great!
I’m going to have to give that a real honest try too. Thank you for your 2 cents

Wish you great success. :white_heart: Be consistent and results will bloom. There is good cheat sheet for image streaming (plus other modalities of it): streaming document - Google Docs (there are tips for people who cant visualize also)
