Same. Sadly I rarely have the time anymore, mostly streaming series while working like Archer or Dr. Who, so it doesn’t really matter if I leave the room for a minute. Still love Lynch, Jodorowsky and a lot of other surrealists.

I also recommend the 2022 movie with the Albino Dominion.
I always felt like these were tom and jerry chases on spaceship each movie. I think it was pretty cool though. The Alien design made up for the non existent storyline. : )

Not a movie, but Babylon 5 gets quite close to the theme. (The Centauri are modelled after the very late Roman Empire and the Narn, a rebelling, archaic race, just got their freedom from the empire.)
Season 1 was produced cheaply with wobbly sets, season 5 felt tacked on and redundant, but season 2 - 4 featured absolute pristine storytelling.
