Could the truth be somewhere in between?
Maybe people outside of the forum do experience overload to some degree, but since they lack awareness of the phenomenon, they just brush it off. Over time, they adapted to it and it stopped being a problem.
Consequently in the forum; on one hand, they become aware of it and how it affects them, leading to them modifying their surroundings to accommodate for it. On the other, they start to miscontribute things as overload/being too concerned about it. Similar to how we often see things get overblown/misattributed to recon from subs.
Or is it simply just doesn’t exist?
Maybe it’s just a form of recon all along that we separated into the term “overload”?
Just because it’s a long held belief in the community, doesn’t mean it’s true/even real after all.
