What are some of y’all’s favorite books? Could be general, metaphysically, financial, etc.
Outsmarting Reality is one I’ve been liking lately, might be my fave metaphysical book.
‘The Power of Your Subconscious Mind’ by Joseph Murphy and ‘The Slight Edge’ by Jeff Olson are some of my top picks. ‘Psycho-Cybernetics’ by Maxwell Maltz is an honorable mention in this genre.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey
I read this book years ago. It has high ROI concepts, and can skyrocket your QoL if you integrate it. The book is strongly validated. Imagine that the president of the United States asks you for advice on how to implement your ideas into his administration.
I’ll quickly go through each of the 7 habits.
- Be Proactive (“You’re the programmer”) - is about cultivating personal power by focusing on the space between stimulus and response. You can implement this in your life right away. The more you focus on that space, the more aware you become of your ability to choose your response. That awareness of choice is personal power. So the more you keep doing this regardless of the external world stimuli or your current circumstances - the more your personal power increases, along with your influence on a congruent level.
He briefly talks about it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8LM4C1l70U
Here he talks about Circle of Influence vs Circle of Concern: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tD0aFZkFrFA
He doesn’t mention it, but the Circle of Concern also conversely becomes larger the more you focus on it, therefore weakening your Circle of Influence.
-
Begin with the end in mind ("Write the program”) - is about having a clear direction for your goals. The more clear your direction and vision is, the more powerful your actions become towards it through your intention. Imagine that your actions are electrically powered by the energy of clarity. Stronger clarity, stronger actions, stronger actualization. The clarity is also more about who you want to become rather than what you want. You also have to structure your life in a way where you can make daily steps towards this vision - it’s absolutely vital. Also, regularly imagining the end result as if its already happened.
-
Put first things first (“Run the program,” “Live the program.”) - is about consistently prioritizing your time, attention, and energy towards the most important things.
-
Think win-win - is about creating win-win situations. It’s an approach to interaction in general, whether networking, dating, negotiating, teamwork, etc. If you win and I win, then everyone wins and we’re all happy - it’s the best outcome, and builds influence. My entire dating life has been based around this for years.
-
Seek first to understand, then to be understood - is about listening to someone until you completely understand their perspective before communicating. Not just understanding their perspective, but why they have it in the first place. Then from there, you’re able to have more effective interactions.
-
Synergize - is about valuing other people’s unique strengths, and leveraging them together to create better overall solutions.
-
Sharpen the saw - is about continuous improvement in the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of yourself. You keep leveling up constantly, and reaching higher levels in your integration of the areas and outlined principles.
Mindset: The New Psychology of Success by Carol Dweck
I read this book recently. I was at an event talking to an athlete, and they asked me if I had read this book after I told them I was heavily into wellness/self-development. I didn’t, so I checked it out.
The book talks about fixed mindset vs growth mindset. There was nothing new to me because I’ve embodied growth mindset for years on an extreme level, but I did feel the reinforcing click that comes with having a clearer understanding. I’m sure that others may have come across this, but there is a phenomenon I used to encounter on YouTube comments, where I would watch a musician playing their instrument at an impressive mastery level, and viewers would become demoralized about their own learning of the instrument. Dweck pretty much exposes the psychology behind that.
The power of the book comes from this:
You’ll understand that growth mindset always wins and fixed mindset always loses. Once you are able to identify how a fixed mindset thinks, and what it looks like - you’ll be able to notice when you’re slipping into it. Since you know that it always loses, it allows you to choose the opposite with 100% certainty. Think Covey’s stimulus and response principle.
If you embody these books, combine the concepts, run subliminals, and remove energy drains, then your life should become better.
