The light and sound machine synced with cranial electro stim definitely helps one to get into a more receptive state of mind. Does that mean it is more effective? I have no means of quantifying that.
I doubt it would make an Ultima less effective.
This is the device I use. I have had it for nearly five years. I had other light and sound machines before this one.

Day 26 of Dragon Reborn.
Still deciding whether to switch to ST2 at 30 or keep going with ST1.
Trying to understand what I should be feeling or not feeling in order to move on with St2 or keep going with ST1.
Has anyone simply continued with ST1 and then just added ST2 after a month and run them both at the same time for a month?
I have now stopped listening to Drag Reb at work.
This means all listening is confined to home between about 6 pm and 7:30 a.m. on weekdays.
On weekends I am mostly at home so there is more listening time.
