Here are some things they offer in my experience

  1. Holding something as possible for you that you’re currently not able to until you can
  2. Practical strategies in performance effectiveness
  3. Insights and revelation of blind spots that resolve issues, personal and performance, very fast
  4. Get you outside your head and into a new way of thinking, acting, and viewing things
  5. contagious ‘ways of being’ and certainty
  6. accountability and commitment, especially if your paying for it.

I’d say do what you can on your on until you can’t. A good coach can be an absolute game changer though and can speed up the process even for stuff you can do on your own and can definitely support moving things once you’re at your current limit on your own.

Yeah. It’s not for people just starting out in business figuring out what they want to do as a business. But if you are in a very specific industry, getting someone from that same industry to consult with can be extremely helpful. They have knowledge about what works and what doesn’t. When a crisis happens, they’ve been through it and can tell you what to do… or more importantly they’ll teach you ways of thinking aboht how to solve it.

Often times coaches are good at teaching frameworks. Frameworks of thinking, principles, etc. But also frameworks of acting. For example, I’m in a marketing agency training and a big part of the philosophy there is that your #1 focus should be sales up until a certain revenue level. Then, their philosophy goes deeper.

I would never trust a “general” coach, though. They need to be super successful at EXACTLY what it is you’re doing, otherwise they can’t help you.

A simple way to put it… they free more of your time up so that you can focus more on DOING instead of THINKING.

Thinking is extremely important but many entrepreneurs fall into the habit of thinking more than they act.
