People are trained to suppress our emotions because they’ll distract us and make us less effective.
But emotions are giving us valuable and accurate information about our internal processes.
Listening to them and dealing with them does slow things down at first. But gradually, it begins to save time and eventually it is a much more efficient way of moving.
Suppression is an important skill to learn; but it’s only one side of the equation. Like inhalation. Expression and processing are equally important. Like exhalation.
Finding the balance between the two is tricky; but very learnable.
