A thread about cigars

Any cigar enjoyers here on the Subclub forum? I’m currently finishing my second ever cigar and I think I’m into this!

This cigar is a Rocky Patel 1999 Connecticut. I don’t feel like I can come up with a better description than what I see online:

The '99 Connecticut uses an exquisite 7-year-old Connecticut leaf to tame his award-winning mixture of 8-year-old Dominican and Nicaraguan long-leaf ligeros. The result is a hearty, slightly spicy cigar with creamy notes of earth and toasted wood.

I chose it based on the similarity to the first cigar I tried: Plascensia Reserva Original. Of the two I think I prefer this Rocky Patel, but I also had a much nicer cutter and setup for this cigar.

The cigar habit appeals because it offers both a connection to tobacco, a plant with spiritual and cultural significance to me, as well as the routine being a flexible one that I can utilize for both quiet contemplation or socialization as I need.

I had a couple of those in samplers. Definitely a good cigar. Always wanted to buy a box but there were always better deals.

I like the Excalibur Connecticuts, also. I got really into it and ended up with one of those like 450 cigar, basically a cooler. I filled it up. A few years back I would get excited about the sales and stock up, lol. So now no more looking at catalogs until I finish my stash. I’m stocked for probably a few years now.

I used to smoke cigarettes. I could quit, and never had a hard time with that. But when I started smoking cigars, trying a cigarette was no good. Cigarettes make me feel horrible, but cigars are really enjoyable. This year I’ve only smoked a couple. Now that it’s almost too cold to smoke outside, I’ll probably dig into the Partagas cigarillos I got for such occasions. I’ve been feeling the need for a quality smoke lately.

I used to partake of Swisher Sweets. Kings and Perfectos.

Lately I have the occasional one that’s a 3-pack from the grocery store. Odyssey.

Been a while though. Can’t even afford to buy food food. So cigars took a back burner.
