With what is going on around the world I have spent alot of time looking for a safe place. Geopolitical, economic and legaly.

A country that keep coming up for me is Uruguay. I encourage you to check it out. Some like to call it the Switzerland of South America, Just as Singapore is the Switzerland of Asia.

Otherwise Hong Kong depending on what you do for work is a great option for the future. It is very expensive though.

Also from Switzerland and I have left a long time ago…

Hong Kong could be a place to travel if you are willing to spend a lot of money…I personally would not recommend that city….say if I spend ten thousands dollar the amount of service /good and fun experience I could get over there is really low……also it depends on the type of life style you are into…. :upside_down_face:

My country is shit :poop:

High cost of living, low salary, corruption.

If you like hot weather tho it’s good, winters are like summers of European countries and in the summer you are dying from the heat.

Also people are stupid here.

And the biggest city here is ranked number one most expensive city in the world, Tel Aviv, 2 room apartment can cost you rent of 3k$ a month.

Are you asking specifically about the monetary cost or are you including the inherent costs like bad weather?

Are you asking for relocation reason cause that will also affect the cost of living. For example, Canadian employers infamously ignore education and work experience from non English speaking countries.

I feel this. We’ve single suits going for 2-3,000 in Toronto (canada).

Great post, I was planning on making a similar one myself!!! Canadian wanting to move to Europe long term, but probably Latin America (Mexico city or Oaxaca) in the short term

This should be obvious but if not, be aware that if you’re interested in moving to a country outside of Europe then that will be much more difficult for you, you’d need to meet their immigration requirements - usually work experience or family related or by making a sizable capital outlay, although there are usually other options as well. Most countries don’t allow moving there on a whim, you need to have something to offer that they want. Staying within the EU will obviously be much easier thanks to freedom of movement laws for EU citizens.

Been through this multiple times thanks to my career and it can be a painfully bureaucratic process, but I’ve accrued 4 citizenships now (including an EU & US) and it was well worth it.

Instead of Hong Kong, there is Shenzhen and Guangzhou in south China. Both of these two megacities have a lower cost of living compared to the West and are near Hong Kong and Macau.

It is around a 30 minute train ride from Shenzhen/Guangzhou to HK. (I’ve been there for tourism.)

Neither the UK.

Same problem here.

While some thirst, others drown.

If you are okay with Central Asia, look for Uzbekistan or Southern Kazakhstan. Very cheap. Very sunny. Not poor like majority of Asian countries. Be ready for that a lot of things differ from Europe drastically, especially human relationships (people are more open and simple-minded). Uzbekistan’s culture is very close to Persian culture. Kazakh culture is something like Mongolian culture with a bit of Persian influence.

At this fuckin point, it’s better if I buy a house, instead of paying rent.

I could buy a house for 200k right now and mortgage would be about 800ish a month. Which is nice but I hate being tied down.

I live in Los Angeles. Cost of living here is not cheap at all.

However I can chime in. If you can somehow manage to make 3k USD a month from your laptop, here is places where you can live very comfortable:

Mexico. Places like Mexico City, Guadalajara, Ensenada are beautiful. Don’t believe the propaganda about the cartel. Most cities are peaceful. I have friends who live in Mexico and right now there’s a huge exodus of Americans moving to Mexico, so plenty of English speakers.

Thailand-Prices have gone up in last 5 years because word got out to westerners, but its still a great bang for your buck. Bonus points if you’re into Asian chicks.

Armenia-small country but the dollar goes very far. Good healthcare system, cheap medicine and the people know how to live. The culture has a great work-life balance.

China-Please check ahead that your money making venture on your laptop is not blocked by the Chinese firewall. China has very low cost of living, but same like Thailand, word getting out and a lot of westerners are moving there.

Costa Rica-This one you may need to bring in 3.5k USD a month to live like a king. Big American retirement community. Probably one of the safest countries on the planet.

Uruguay-The most developed latin American nation. Same as above, this one you may need to make closer to 3.5k a month if you want live like a king. Safe as well.

Thank you very much @ryder004 for you time and help

I’ve also gotten very obsessed with astrocartography to help me answer this question of where to move.

Essentially it’s the horoscope/astrology of the earth based on where the planets were when uuu were born, and it can be very powerful.

Astro.com has a good map

You can use unblocked 5G through providers like Holafly and others I can’t remember. These are legal, use for example China Telecom, but are routed through Hong Kong and are not blocked. Pricey, but work fine. Just pay attention what they say about tethering if you want to use laptop or tablet over Hotspot. Make sure it has unlimited tethering. And data. If I remember correctly, I’m paying around 70e /m.

My IP shows UK, I think. Annoying, as I wanted to get NFL GamePass but my address doesn’t match the UK location.
