I’d start the conversation by asking them how they concluded that.
If they tried ultrasonic subliminals and they said it didn’t work, I’d then ask what they did to make it work (what action they took), how would they know if it did work (what their expectations were), did they try running them at lower volumes, and why did they attribute any lack of success to the format (ultrasonic) rather than the script (content; perhaps the person who created it made an ineffective script, or perhaps they chose a program they really didn’t want to do).
