Ultrasonic by proxy

I wonder

If I’m playing an ultrasonic subliminal out of a speaker as I’m hosting a Zoom meeting, could the subliminal—conducted via my microphone out of their headphones and speakers— affect the other people on the call?

I think (in most cases) it’s low and not right to expose people to subliminals without their consent and considered agreement. Greasy ethics. Want to avoid doing that. But today I think I’ll be on an ambient, no-headphones Zoom set-up.

Guess I’ll need to pay special attention to the volume and make my choice.

A workaround would be to play a low volume ultrasonic through headphones as I’m on the Zoom call. That ensures that I’m the only one hearing it. Just need to be conscientious about the volume on the ultrasonic to avoid hurting my ears.

Still curious though.

I’d assume that ultrasonics wouldn’t make it through Zoom anyway even if the mic did pick them up.
That stuff gets compressed similarly to MP3 or whatever as far as I know, so freqs that high should be filtered out as they dont’ contribute to audible speech.

Plus with how choppy audio gets at times, I doubt you’d have much to worry about

Thanks. I actually have no idea about this.

on an unrelated note: Last night I was taking a walk and listening to an Ultima, when suddenly a pretty decently-sized bat swooped down right in front of me and then veered off into the darkness.

It occurred to me that a bat would possibly be stimulated by the high-frequency sounds in my Ultima subliminal. That thought caused me to think about all of the other times bats had swooped around me on my hikes. And I realized that many times I was in fact playing either ultrasonics or Ultimas.

They’re probably like, ‘oh, it’s that funny-looking flightless bat again. Wonder what he’s about, poor thing…’

I might do this, but listen to the masked version.

And please note what @Trader as he seems to be a technical expert who knows things beyond my ken.

YOU ARE THE TRUE BATMAN!
