The Art Of Improv

I’ll get around to write it in the Roadmap soon.

Improv, not just improvisational theatre, but the activity is improv benefits so many areas of life.

The ability to flow in the moment, fully active sensory awareness, wittyness, not just oral, but with everything. Engaging. Natural. Presence, alert presence. Liveliness. Vitality. Spontaneity. Making up things on the spot. Using what you have to create, engage and play. Humour and comedy. Sharing. Collaboration (very big), improv is done usually with other people. Playfulness. Fun. Listening skills. Flexible and loose physically, emotionally as in the mind. Adaptable. No filter. No blockages. No entanglements. Free flowing. No mind. Handle the unexpected. And much more.

Many improv studios offer workshops for businesses as well for presentations or even interpersonal skills, as the skills can benefit alot of areas. A lot of improv training can be used to have more fun or even in the initial creative or/and brainstorming of a new business or product. Benefits all creative outputs. I personally also see a deep spiritual aspect in it. You’re like a antenna for the universe to create through you.

Btw I bet RoM, RoS and RM would be a great stack for this. But what about a general sub. Revelation Of Play 🫶

What do you guys think? Wanna discuss this?

I like the Idea.

With the versatility of the concept, I think it would work better as a module for social reflexes, creative interactions and lived storytelling. Many other of the aspects are already covered by e. g. Empath, Dragon Tongue, Eagle Eye, but such a module would be an interesting addition to HOSaB, HoM, DD, RM (!) or, as it is hopefully in the Pipeline, Ultimate Actor.

Yeah, forgot about the Q, one could really build all those aspects with a custom. Interesting about the actors sub! :raised_hands: that’s awesome.

You mean like a sub or a Q, when you say a modul? I mean there are already Q modules for reflexes (lighting I think), a story teller one exists as well.

I’m going to look into the Q store. But would be awesome with a general module, a major like Ultimate Artist.

I meant a Q module. I don’t think the improv concept was really covered there so far, only touched upon.

For a fullblown sub something like Renaissance Man: Ultimate Actor would prob work best.

That’s a good idea. Yeah, now I understand. Just a pure improv Q module that covers the “rules” Of improv and skills, that are not already existing in other Q modules. I’ll have to do research of what exists and what doesn’t.

RM idea sounds good. Acting, comedy and improv. These areas share many aspects.

A bit of overlap wouldn’t be bad. I always wanted to experiment with LARP in interdisciplinary settings. Would be the perfect module for it.

That would be a perfect play for it. Roleplay can use improv skills because not everything, every combination of people and interactions can be prepared like a movie script. I assume LARPing works like that?

Yes. Most LARPs are basically improv theater without an audience. There are hundreds of different LARP traditions though. Some boffer larpers (combat heavy, much closer to the original approach of translating D&D into a live action game) e. g. would probably find this description offensive. LARP is on the verge of becoming financially very interesting (especially interdisciplinary) even though the first big commercial experiments like the Star Wars experience were rather expensive duds.
