Summertime vs Christmastime?

Hey Subclub,

I’ve been running summertime for a while recently. I seemed to be more joyful these days and became more spontaneous with socializing and outings.

I wonder if we will eventually publish a program related to Wintertime. While Summertime is a great chance for people to go out, relax and enjoy, wouldn’t Christmastime become a sub that helps one to get unified with close members of the circle, cherish, and cultivate a restorative attitude at heart?

I know the info involved can be endless. I hope to hear everyone else’s opinions.

Wintertime could closely be related to the concept of hygge, which is very much like “the comfort of being together when it’s snowing outside watching in amazement while sipping hot chocolate and playing board games as a family, time slows down, we’re all perfectly happy and cozy and unrushed”

In Norwegian and Danish, hygge means a mood of cozy, safe, and warm comfort that comes from simple everyday togetherness, peace, and well-being. While world-famous as a Danish cultural lifestyle, the word historically traces back to the Old Norse term hyggja (meaning to think or feel content) and 16th-century Norwegian hugga (to comfort). Core Meanings and Nuances

  • Everyday Coziness: Feeling snug and warm indoors while safe from cold, harsh weather outside.

  • Social Flow: Enjoying relaxed, gentle conversation and shared laughs with close friends or family.

  • Mindful Presence: Taking time to slow down, live in the present moment, and appreciate small comforts.

This is a good idea.

The same thing that makes Summertime different from Inner Circle. The emphasis on atmosphere, a spirit, an attitude towards life, a feeling of being in the world and moving through the world and through relationships. There’s a kind of coziness, warmth. A feeling of being at home and extending that feeling to a space and to others, where you wish. Reminds me a little of the Shire. Old Bilbo, sitting in his den with a long pipe. Enjoying a warm cider or ale.

But it could synergize well with Inner Circle if one wished to extend that network of warmth.

I do like the idea of “Wintertime.” The only issue is that I don’t want people to think that these subs are “seasonal” in the sense that they can only be used during that season.

I agree. Never heard the word before but Hygge could work. Or better yet get to the root “hugga” (to comfort) and just call it Hugs. :hugs:

I like the overall idea and theme.
