Pushing through recon?

Hi, I’m hoping I can get some insight from the community into this topic. I understand that the most commonly advised method to mitigate recon is to reduce loop length/ listening days and ease into the title over time. But what do people think about just pushing through it?

In my case I’ve just started Primal, finished my first 21 day cycle today. I did a full 15 minute loop for the listening days and hit some gnarly recon in the last week or two, but also some noticeable positive results in social settings, though I can tell there is still much work to be done.

To be honest I do have a history of poor mental health although I’ve improved significantly on it over the years, now the recon feels like I’m back at my old self. But it’s a different state of mind — I’m oddly comforted by the fact that there’s an actual, tangible reason for the low mood this time (the subconscious tussling with the Primal script) rather than seemingly for no reason at all, and that comfort allows me to just push through the recon/poor mood.

So, if the recon is strong but manageable, is it worth it to just push through or should I dial the listening time back a bit on the next cycle?

Apparently, the scripting is guiding your mind to reconcile the things that would trigger your low mood ‘for no reason’ years ago. If it doesn’t make you miserable and you can still perform your daily tasks, I don’t see why you would reduce the exposure. Keep going, mate.

See how it goes on your washout, though. I assume you’ll be taking it now, as you’ve finished the cycle.

Thank you, that’s a very interesting perspective and it’s true there’s a lot of unresolved trauma from the past that I’ve probably just buried and the sub’s aim is to make me work through it and resolve it so I can then better embody Primal’s goals.

In that case, would using a healing title for a bit before taking on Primal be a better move? Or could Primal itself resolve the issues if given enough time and effort?

It depends on the nature of the issues. If they’re within Primal’s scope, then running something specifically addressing them should speed up overcoming them. It wouldn’t have to be a healing title, though.

If there are some other specific issues that a healing program could address, I would make sure it wouldn’t conflict with Primal and if it did, I would either ignore the issues and keep running Primal or use the healing title only. It would depend on how grave those issues are.

Quick comment here, I’ve always had trouble with self awareness for myself.

Going through recon and all, recently I’ve started Emperor : The Art of War and the Anti-Recon scripting in it combined with the inner awareness, exploration of shadow part of it helped me greatly understanding my recon, and let go of it.

It really helped my mental health to be aware of what is happening in my mind and honestly I was shocked by the results of seeing just how much more I had those moments where I was asking myself “Why am I feeling like this?” and instantly, or almost instantly, a clear anwser came to me.

In the past I used to not notice when I was going through shitty emotions and just ignore or it “live” it, with AoW, I was able to notice it and ask the proper questions and understand why I was feeling the way I was feeling!

It might be a bigger commitment, but if you feel like giving it a try, nothing can beat a bit of wisdom by Sun Tzu downloaded directly into your mind

I personally push through and get insane results, lol.

The key to processing is self-compassion, patience, and understanding with yourself.

Recon is the sign that things that don’t serve you is going away. You’re on the right track, don’t change a thing

Even though it’s fair to assume that recon leads to breakthroughs, it’s still better to find your sweet spot, as constant recon diminishes the most immediate and tangible results.

It also makes adjusting the exposure much harder and, as a result, it’s easy to overexpose—and overexposure leads to a “processing blanket” (when the mind is constantly focused on processing and not so much on executing), which also diminishes the most immediate and tangible results.

Is there any good way to identify the nature of the issue? Due to Primal triggering it, I’m assuming it’s something to do with women and/or socializing, but how can I gain better insight into the specifics of the issues?

I’m afraid it’s a skill one needs to master. Self-introspection and journaling can help a lot with that. Pay attention to situations, thoughts, and feelings that trigger reconciliation.

You must use your wisdom.

Read about flow state and the balance between challenge and ability.

Read about learning in general.

You must be challenged in order to grow, however, if the challenge is overwhelming and too far beyond your capabilities, then it’s very ineffective.

You’re looking for a balance between challenge and results. Not just with subs, but with life in general.

Too easy, and nothing will change. Too hard and you’ll shut down.

Hence the “microloop until sweet spot”.

If you feel like you’re making progress and are capable of “pushing through” on full loops then you are.

If you’re truly overwhelmed, you’ll know, it’ll be obvious.

You’ll feel paralyzed, scared, confused, angry, like you’re spinning plates. Etc.

It also increases the likely hood that you’ll “snap” and quit or change subs. Only to look back 6 months later and be like “oh…I guess it did work…wait, why did i stop?”

Lol
