Yeah I remember in early testing, that was a rough ride.
I see his point in recon being useful, after all, pain is a strong modulator for growth, but to me ZP always felt like it is trying to change your perception in a different way, not a “nicer way.”
As in, you get these manifestations instantly that show you what is possible, and the more you have those, the more it becomes your second nature. Hence why it’s important to keep running the same sub, even if it doesn’t feel “novel.”
So to me, it was more of a “this new life is awesome, more of this” (ZP) vs. “old/current life sucks, let’s do XYZ instead”
Both have a forward momentum, but ZP feels much more positive while doing it.
Combining the two sounds awesome, because you get to work through things holding you back more efficiently with a generally more positive tone.
Or maybe I am completely off on this

For me, the major difference between the pre ZP and ZP onwards lies in the earlier subs letting you know they are there and working on your being. For example, Emperor Q originally brought up a lot of anger which gradually subsided, but there was always a sense of this pushing through, planning the future life, clear manifestations and so on. Godlike Masculinity booster you could feel the increased masculine energy immediately in a very in your face kind of way. Same with Renaissance Man and Sage Immortal. They tapered off after a while but that yang aspect was very clear, especially with the one hour long takes.
With ZP, at first it was a lot more difficult for me to identify when I was in recon, because there was no obvious emotional roller coaster or clear failures to meet the goals. It was brain fog, procrastination or aimlessness at most, or oversleeping. Recon on Wanted Black took me weeks to recognize as recon because of that subtlety.
Also the main thing I miss about the old tech which is why I still use it occasionally is the immediate state shifting of the Ultimas. This still happens to some extent with some ZPs (like Diamond) but it’s nowhere near as pronounced in many cases. Paragon, Sage Immortal and LIbertine Ultimas to me remain capable of producing a type of shift that ZP in its current form simply can’t achieve.
I can say having used the Ultimas alongside the ZP tech that I never experienced the energy drain other people spoke of. I very rarely use the old Q or Qv2 subs, but that doesn’t mean I won’t try it every now and then just for the nostalgia and the kick up the butt. Especially the older version of Emperor which had certain aspects of the newer EB.
I hope bumping up the yang on ZPU fills the gaps I’ve felt in the yin mode of ZP. Thing is, it’s not like all ZP have performed consistently in the same way, the Revelation series was able to perform its task very well using that tech for instance (maybe because unfolding is a much more yin receptive process), but there are some subs where I just prefer the old tech. Thankfully, with my current long term stack that hasn’t been a major issue.

I never miss the old tech. I always just appreciate it and move on.
I want smoother, faster, more organic results. That’s all I want from the subs.
Each successive build improves along those metrics. It feels simple for me.
I actually collect the older versions of tech, but I never seem to get around to using them.
I am very, very much looking forward to the coalescence of Zero Point Union. And after that I just look forward to marveling at whatever these two people come up with in the future. I am so glad that they have discovered and honored their capacity and freedom to create in this sphere.
What might they come up with by 5 years from now?

Since we have The Revelation of Wealth now, I’ll guess that the surprise drop will be The Revelation of Body. Completing the revelation series.
If that’s the case, maybe the next group of subs that will be updated are the physical shifting ones.

@Viktor I hope you are right because Revelation of Body + Paragon could be the be-all and end-all Health stack. Also the physical shifting titles/stacks could be greatly enhanced by adding RoB. Talk about physical shifting on steroids if you deeply understand how your body truly works.
