Main Disc. Thread -- The New KHAN: Love and War (Now Available! Free upgrade!)

Has anyone seen the code this shit spits out? It’s got a fuck ton of errors generally. It’s just a way for people who are too fucking lazy to actually do the work themselves. I don’t see the pride in taking credit for something you didn’t do yourself.

Step 1. Get off reddit and stop filling your mind with other people’s experiences.

Step 2. Listen to your subs with a long-term goal in mind, and create your own reality.

That’s the plan

You’re correct. It’s depressing the fuck out of me

in my experience it was much much better at generating code before they tried to make it politically correct.

I even saw some stats how it went from making correct code most of the time to making correct code for like 8% of the time. And it also got worse at math

Choose a different thing to wonder about.

What if your mind is designed, by sheer divine luck and blessings, to be exceptionally able to get really really good at programming?

What if your fascination to coding/programming is an inspiration coming from the deepest, most profound point of your spirit, urging you to master this skill that your mind is innately talented at?

What if you’re following your destiny right now?

I find these to be much more productive trains of thought for your journey right now, and I urge you to replace your current negative thoughts with something like what I wrote above whenever you catch yourself ruminating.

All the best bro <3

AI is way more than an aggregator. AI is already on the verge of achieving AGI ( Artificial General Intelligence). This means it would be able to create and use logical reasoning similar to human reasoning. If you couple that with the latest advances in quantum computing, artificial intelligence can potentially do things that are outside of the reach of human beings. We might just be a few short years away from that. Skynet is closer than most people think. The sci-fi movies didn’t think that quantum computing would be a thing. We are just on the brink of having computer programs capable of doing things that are completely out of reach of the human mind’s capabilities. Forget about AI, look into quantum computing and see what the latest advances are. Now imagine an AI program that achieves AGI and has access to that much computing power. If that doesn’t scare you, you’re not paying attention.

Love you too man, you’re a constant inspiration here on the forums. Don’t get too down on yourself for too long man. We’ll always be here to pick you up when you need it too.

Thank you.

In short, don’t be afraid about so-called AI taking away your jobs in the future.
As has been pointed out, there is no such thing as artificial intelligence. The soul/consciousness is likely not reducible to mathematics, which means that it’ll likely not be possible for computer scientists to come up with a viable model that actually is sentient. Also, look up the Halting Problem in Computer Science. At best, we can describe the relationship between “things”, not the things themselves, so they’ll remain elusive. Same with modern medicine. It can heal things, but is usually done in the way you’d expect from science that looks at things from the outside, models relationships and creates mechanistic solutions to problems it doesn’t even fully understand. Hence they cannot create life in the lab, either. Modify, yes, but not create.
We’re the creators.

To come back to the topic, it is absolutely a limiting belief that you’re not smart enough to code. Get your goals straight, and go for them relentlessly. The subs will help you.

Let’s get back to the Khan thread, y’all.

EDIT: If you want more info about why the claims for AGI ( Artificial General Intelligence) are exaggerated, follow the links on Artificial intelligence - RationalWiki

My apologies for the derailment

That article is almost two years old. I don’t think you’re really aware of how fast research in computer science is actually going.

I believe their are “jailbroken” versions of GBT available, if ya search around reddit/YT.

Sentient no, but ridiculously proficient at using data and pattern recognition yes. There is current technology that can basically dial up consumers who have oppted in to a funnel or checkout page, and in the voice of a human, sell the customer based on data on all of the companies best sales calls and predict the best responses with the correct tonality to get the desired outcome. Basically replacing sales reps, which is the highest paid job in nearly any company, aside from the C-suite positions.

The difference is, although it may not be as good yet as the top 1% of sales reps, in controls for external variables like fatigue, bandwidth, stress, etc, in short the A.I never gets tired and always performs to it’s capabilities regardless of external circumstances. Software like this is very expensive, which is why you haven’t seen every company replace labor yet, but I personally know CEO’s who have completley replaced their tech staff, sales, copywriting/marketing. It may not perform at a world class level yet, but it’s sufficient to warrant replacing a 500K/year salary with a $97/month subscription based service…

Artificial intelligence is merely imitation intelligence, something that can be passed off as intelligence to the unwary. Consciousness and intelligence cannot be computed functions, meaning they cannot be written into programs that can be executed on computers. This also implies that the “brain as computer” model is unsuccessful in capturing these aspects. Quantum computing is not gonna solve unsolveable mathematical problems.

Exactly. We still don’t understand our own brains and consciousness. How can we replicate that ?

Absolutely. Unfortunately, AI does not need to be sentient to be dangerous. And it’s just human nature that’ll be abused in the future and bring tons of unnecessary problems. I’m just trying to point out that many people have fallen for the Chatgpt and AI hype due to good marketing and a really poor understanding of both philosophy and mathematics.

Unrelated but

I’m incredibly fascinated by how the build of the brain is similar to that of our universe. Does that mean our universe is conscious or sentient?

So you guys aren’t aware of the scientific hypothesis that tends to show that human consciousness might only be a quantum mechanism? And if that hypothesis is true, consciousness can actually be replicated artificially!
