@SaintSovereign : In your opinion, what would happen if someone makes PEACE a fixture of their stack and stays on it for an entire year?
@SaintSovereign something similar happened to me. I was sleeping then I woke up and thought the word “Peace”. I was suddenly enveloped by this wonderful feeling you described but like you I started to analyze it and it disappeared. I was able to recreate this feeling several times before I slept again
Here’s my take. I believe in balance and this picture personifies it.
Buddhist Monk Giving The Bird

Is there already a set order of titles to receive an upgrade?
I have been experiencing incredible meditation sessions, equally intense but also contained under the uncarved block

If I had moments like that, I would analyze and feel into them as much as I could. Once all the information had been gleaned, I would try to consciously go in the direction those experiences pointed to. I mean, we are always going somewhere anyway, so why not use those moments as signposts since they did occur and you liked what they provided you a glimpse into. It’s also worth considering they happened for a reason.
Besides, you said it yourself that you haven’t been able to get those moments out of your mind (they’re clearly not processed yet), so you might as well extract all the value that you can from them. I don’t think it serves any higher purpose to kind of suppress it, “lest you end up chasing it”. And this is how it came across to me when I read it. But I could be completely off and wrong.
The funny thing is that when we don’t allow ourselves to process something fully, we might end up unconsciously chasing it. We will seek some kind of closure or resolution in some way, shape or form anyway. Case in point, you already have planned to run PEACE again
My humble unsolicited opinion only, of course.
Not that simple my dear
Pretty much. For me it was all spontaneous. Everything felt right and experienced brief moments of peace. It wasn’t point to any direction. I was allowed to just be.
Well, moments of peace point to… peace. Peace that doesn’t come and go. It’s up to us to get ourselves “there”, if we want that kind of constant peace. We don’t have to, of course.
The moment has passed.
It was beautiful, yes. But the fact that the moment faded as soon as I tried to engage with rational thinking tells me something: it inherently defies rational thinking.
And so, it stands to reason that if I ever want to experience something like that again, thinking about it too much will not help me.
The very mechanism I’d use to explore what happened is the very thing that guarantees that I would never experience it again.
As grateful as I am for being able to experience it, at the end of the day, it was what it was: transient inner phenomena.
From my perspective, it is far more important to focus on upgrades, something that brings immediate value, than to chase a fleeting moment — however beautiful it may be.
I think that is the real beauty of Peace. To be free of needing " peace " altogether and to simply walk while letting the river clear the mud without too much worry or wonder over how it will look like.
I experienced a prolonged similar moment during meditation, being contained by the uncarved block while asking myself " what do you desire to feel/express ". It got so intense I’ve never felt anything more beautiful, whole or real. That feeling lingered for a while, I then became exhausted and went to the gym regardless. It was an uphill battle but I went on one exhausted rep at a time.
I got home and my mind was overflowing with recent worries and problems, yet I was equally ok. I woke up next day and has been sick since. Still ok. I worry about how calling in sick might affect my new recent job and it’s still ok. Clearing the mud from the river does not feel like a linear progression, but enough specs cleared… denser and more concentrated debris might scatter making things feel dirtier than before… But the river flows regardless, and i feel at peace regardless. I am happy that time has ceased being my enemy
Module: that gets us out of our heads… for moments like that! I’ve settled down and relaxed and ended up in places, I’ve seen people in places, as soon as I realize what is happening and try to engage it just vanishes and I’m instantly back in the present. @Fire your assistance is required.
If I had to guess, could it be possible that if someone uses PEACE long enough, those moments will come more often and eventually become the majority of their default state?
Considering how the subs have been working so far, that might not be too unrealistic imo.
It sounds very enticing.
I kinda hope someone is insane committed enough to use PEACE for years to see how far into complete peace they could gain from it.
I’m being genuine here, not silly. I’m beginning to think that this title transcends us in our human form. PEACE is listed under “Spiritual” in the custom section. That’s not accidental. I genuinely feel PEACE isn’t just working on our minds (subconscious) but also our soul. Spirit. Whatever term one wants to apply.
Also I’m convinced this is not a sub you can direct. It’s one that reveals itself and your true self to you.
I had a truly incredible experience yesterday without even trying. Funny thing is it ended up being a “mindfulness” exercise/buddhist exercise that I’ve tried countless times and never have been able to do. Truly watch things and be detached. No labels. Just watch.
I walked to a park in my neighborhood to just chill under the trees. This park is a very small patch of pine trees (Pacific Northwest of the United States) but also has grassy areas. I was completely detached and was able to observe everything going on. No labels. No judgements. No mental chatter. Just calm and peace.
I “tried” to allow it to happen today. No such luck. It’s almost as though its teaching us to let go of the struggle. The trying. The forcing. The hustle. And just be. BUT not all the time. Even a monk has to come out of his cave to teach and share with people.
Just a small additional question:
Do you believe that what you experienced is possible for you and you feel deserving of it as your constant state of being?
Because to me, what you described doesn’t have to be transient inner phenomena at all. We all here talk about spontaneous moments and glimpses, but much, much more is possible. At least that’s my perspective and experience.
From my perspective, attempting to answer these questions leads me right back to the same problem.
I am attempting to describe an experience that completely defies definition. Even if I used poetic, florid and flowery language, it still wouldn’t be accurate. I was not “blanketed by the power of inner peace,” or anything like that. It was a still moment. I felt present.
And the defining element of the experience, that which made it feel so profound was the sheer lack of thought. It was the cessation of the chattering mind that allowed the experience to flow. The moment I tried to analyze it, to mine it for insight was the moment it faded. That’s all I need to know. That right there told me enough about the nature of the experience: I cannot “think” my way back to it.
No amount of inner excavation or mental inquiry is going to bring it back, or turn it into some permanent state of being through thought. What would be required is the exact opposite – inner stillness. And the best way to do that is to return to the present moment, living completely in the now. Not a moment that has already made its mark and moved on.
Perhaps this is the influence of PEACE, but I have no desire to cling to these moments nor strive for them. Even they must be released.
Yes, I imagine so.
If I had to guess, I simply experienced a moment of deep integration, given that’s what usually occurs when people go on washout. I suspect when others go on washout from PEACE, they’ll report having similar moments.
Exactly!
Like taking a flashlight to go investigate and finally clarify once and for all the nature of the dark.
You’re spot on.
Phenomenological investigation of Consciousness is a very particular undertaking.
It has been done and is being done by many. It requires embrace of paradox and tolerance of ambiguity. A tenuous balance between open felt engagement and incomplete contemplative review.
Hold it loosely. Stay balanced. Keep walking.
After the first very welcome emotional shifts, PEACE is now pretty hard work for me. Or better results in pretty hard work.
It’s pointing directly at all the stuff (mostly clutter and work stress (too long hours)) that stays between me and actual peace.
It’s squaring the circle to get there, enjoy selfcare and get through the Year of Grind intact.
Balance is always incredibly hard for me but this process is necessary.
