Good to see this thread still getting some love after this time.
Decided to mention here I’m probably in bloom stage as I’ve been listening less frequently and perhaps it is KB+HO, but I’ve been drawn back to the writings of Yang Ywing Ming (whose work I first came upon years ago in the infamous Circle Bookshop), in his writings on Embryonic Breathing, explaining fabulously as he always does the core of the Qigong and Daoist practices at the same time as the martial aspect.
Specifically what he says about Jing in the sense of refinement and essence is very good. Also I mentioned sensing the Girdle Vessel before when doing sensing arising from this sub. It is the Yang vessel at the waist in which you can feel the Qi surge up when you get that inspiration. Interestingly enough, it is also said to be the source of our physical balance and rootedness, as well as mental calmness, and martial artists will train it for this purpose, try to push more energy into it. Perhaps the mental calmness some people are feeling on this sub is partly the result of this vessel getting filled more.
Basically Ming does a good job of explaining Chinese concepts in a concrete and practical way; so for anyone who is wanting to use this sub with the Golden Flower style exercises, I’d recommend this material as foundational (he also goes into how breathing techniques can be used to guide the Qi, with examples)
