Keto advice -- please!

Hey guys,

Do you have any keto advice for a beginner?

I have been doing intermittent fasting for about a year (at least 12 hours per day), two weeks ago I started a semi keto diet (need more veggies and fat).

Thanks in advance

What’s your current plan for getting into healthy ketosis?

I do full time keto, might be able to help.

Thanks @Billions,

I just ate some cookies for processed food in the last 2 weeks, besides that I have eating only the following:
Vegetables: broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce.
Fruit: banana, berries.
Protein: egg, chicken, fish
Others: beans, pickles
Supplements: Omega 3, magnesium, probiotics, zinc, supergreens, b12

I have had 2 bad symptoms: constipation and pain in the back (maybe due to kidney). I already solved the constipation by taking magnesium, but after that I began with pain in the back, I have had like three or four days with the pain in the back, I have tried drinking more water, lemon with water, it seems lemon with water decreases considerably the pain. I think the pain is like 3 in a scale of 1 to 10.

What do you think I could do for the pain in the back, and improve my current state.
Thanks

Beans and Bananas are not ketogenic at all. You have to avoid them completely. Did you know that?

MCT oil is gonna be helpful early in the morning, and coconut oil.

Peanut and nut butters are a must in my opinion. Walnuts as well.

Dark Chocolates (90-95%+), get ones with least amount of added sugar.

Swerve and Lakanto (monk fruit) for sugar substitutes

Almond Flour, Coconut Flour, Oat Fiber and Vital Wheat Glutton for baking (breads and deserts)

Bananas and Beans aren’t low on carbs, except for Lupini Beans

Keto Friendly Foods

Perhaps a painkiller, hot water bottle or Epsom salt could help with the pain

Edit: Youtube has got a lot of great recipes for keto

Yes,

Just trying to not being so hard for that I said semi keto.

Thanks @Phoermes,

Are you on a keto diet? If so, do you eat several veggies? or what is your percentage of proteins, veggies and fats?

By the way, how’s your pottasium intake? Might want to get NoSalt (pottasium salt) if you’re lacking on that front.

Also, Tumeric in powder or juice form could help with the inflammation

I think is not so good, I drink electrolytes once in a while and eat some veggies. Do you think lack of potassium can make the kidney aches?

I was since Januray but broke it around 7 weeks now.

It was a plant-based keto diet, which I consider a financial nightmare. My main protein sources were from low-carb plant based protein powder, plant-meats and tofu.

There were times where I considered fasting for months on end instead.

For veggies: Yes, the majority of food was vegetable (the low carbed ones), ended up getting creative with the seasonings. Luckily, the internet is filled with resources which made it less harsh.

I would get 120-180+g proteins daily from shakes and nutbutters. A piece of avocado for fats almost everyday, and sometimes would blend it with milk. MCT oil and coconut oil thrown into the shake or eaten raw. Cooking everything with Coconut oil, butter, olive oil or avocado oil.

Salads with arugula, lettuce, cucumbers, oil, hemphearts, matoes and olives.

Somedays I’d make a keto pizza with mushrooms (I hope you’re fond of mushrooms, they’re a godsend) and some minimal toppings. Didn’t like cauliflower pizza mush or riced, I’d preffer it baked or made into curry. Cauliflowers played a major role as well, they’re extremely filling. Brocolli almost everyday, except when the grocery’s iffy and overpriced.

If you’re not getting enough leafy greens, avocados, beef, shrooms, fishies, almonds and broccoli on a daily basis, the lower potassium could cause problems for function of the muscles, which might be the cause of the back pain if its muscular
