How do you know if you need healing?

Hello friends,

I’ve been running 2 customs for around a month now and getting good solid results however over the past few days i’ve been craving running a healing sub. I dont know if this is my mind guiding me to something beneficial or wether it’s just reconciliation trying to make me change.

I’m typically pretty bad at reading and understanding my emotions, most of the time i either just feel happy or sad, i cant really dig deeper to understand the cause for why i’m feeling the way i am.

My worry is that it stunts my progress and i spend the next month trying to deal with a load of emotions and effectively undo the progress i’ve been making.

Your guidance and comments would be greatly appreciated

Short answer, when your results stagnate and you hit a wall.

If a new goal is better understanding of your emotions, then by all means run a healing sub. Just be mindful that it can pull you away from the custom. So it’s highly dependent on where your priorities are. Sometimes we want to do it all at once with these subs, but it’s not always possible. There’s only so many resources you can dedicate and you have to choose.

I think for everybody in his life comes the time where has to do some healing, in whatever form. The only question is WHEN, and this is variable.

First you need to ask yourself:
Do you have time right now to do some healing? If you are working day and night on another project, it doesn’t make sense to do it now, better taking another time for healing. Lockdown periods are also great for healing though to really heal something you also need to take some action by then actually doing what you feared before, and this might be a bit hard to do in a lockdown depending on your trauma.

So decide if the timing fits first and then when the you also get a gut feeling to start a healing journey, go for it.

I would personally not run a healing subs less than 3 months though, 6 months to a year is preferred to really heal the deep stuff.

Perhaps before healing start doing things that get you in touch wirh your feelings.

  • sign up for a yoga class
  • theatre class
  • in addition physical/contact sport
  • body based meditation
  • dance class
  • journal about your past childhood memories.

Go with the class that you feel most resistant to

It would be benefical if you list what you are already listening to and what you hope to achieve from it.

Then you need to ask yourself if you are making what you believe to be acceptable progress towards your goals.

Because this is a self help forum you should be aware of the nature that brings to the fore. Some people here are clearly more in need of healing than others and you simply need to read their journals to understand this.

As such healing will be given prominence which you as an individual should not be swayed by.

This however leads to another question, if you need healing are you in a position to benefit from it right now or would it be better for you to continue with what you are doing at the moment.

Don’t worry if you are not a particularly emotional person, some people simply aren’t. And again due to the nature of this forum the three replies above have expounded on emotions.

And a.c.t it will help you get more in touch, same goes for meditation and mindfulness…

Reading Power vs Force and Letting g Go will also help you in discerning.

I lived in my head(upper neck) and couldn’t feel much for a long time, its often resistance build up.

Once you feel your own emotions, connection with others is easier :slight_smile:

Last thing, you don’t always need a “why” emotions can just be there without any traumatic underpinnings. Try to feel them instead of figuring them out, if they come up.regularly you might found a pattern and can ask “why/where” and go deeper and deeper.

I think the thing i’ve taken away most from this is that it’s not the right time for me to be doing any healing, it seems like a big time investment and might draw me away from the progress i’m currently making.

I definitely plan to do it in the future when i can dedicate the time needed to it and can be sure it won’t interfere.
