I think friendships can be based on different foundations. It’s not always about being the same. You may have a friend who is lower than you in IQ, but much higher than you in social skill and romance. And you both may love eating at food trucks or fine restaurants.
I guess I think that friendships involve bonding over some degree of commonality, but also, they always involve areas of contrast and difference. Part of the skill of friendship is being able to navigate those areas decently enough to maintain good feeling in the relationship.
Also, high IQ or not, if you scratch the surface of any person long enough, you’re going to find some area of intelligence and talent (my opinion).
