After returning from the Philippines, where I had been training in Escrima, I developed a strong desire to learn boxing. I began attending boxing lessons, and from the very beginning the coach was surprised by how naturally the movements came to me.
He especially noticed my footwork and the way my hips moved when I threw punches.
The training in Escrima had already built a strong foundation in balance, movement, timing, and body coordination, and it seemed to transfer naturally into boxing.
There was something satisfying about realizing that the hours spent training with sticks, movement drills, and discipline in the Philippines had quietly shaped the way my body moved in combat sports.
Even as a beginner in boxing, I felt comfortable with rhythm, angles, and generating power through movement rather than brute force alone
