Our consciousness creates reality. If we are focused on “wanting” something, we don’t realize that we may be taking a lack approach. It’s totally normal and accepted to talk about wanting things. However, it’s important to recognize that, because words matter, “want” is not necessarily the best, most positive word to use.
When it comes to choosing the life you are most looking to lead, often times you talk about the things you want.
A desire stresses the strength of feeling and often implies strong intention or aim. wish sometimes implies a general or transient longing especially for the unattainable. Want specifically suggests a felt need or lack. Crave stresses the force of physical appetite or emotional need.
Want is defined to be deficient by the absence of some part or thing, or to feel a need (sometimes followed by for.)
Wants are temporary. Something like craving for a bottle of beer. As soon as the thing is out of sight it’s usually out of your mind.
A desire keeps you up at night. It won’t go away until it’s satisfied. You more than want whatever it is, you need it. You dream about it, it becomes a driving force that leads you on a quest to find the object of your desire and you know you will never feel whole without it.
Desire, is not defined by lack or scarcity. It is to express a wish to obtain; ask for; request.”
Wants come and go. Desires last.
When you get what you want you move on to the next thing. When you get what you desire you strive to keep it.
Because a lot of our fear-based society is founded in lack and scarcity, being mindful of anything that feeds this matters. While your intent is important, it’s still a good idea to use words with caution.
I think that’s not what SC is aiming for. You’ll be contented on having something or having nothing at all. The contentment is alright but being at peace with yourself is important. And with the desires, wants, combine with joy, passion, and gratitude we can get to choose the reality into our life.
Hence it isn’t choosing the best word for it, it is about holding into the right emotion coupled by that desire or want that’s in our mind.
