Im thinking about a Stark/Truel sell custom for my archetype/selling/promoting/wealth + Index gate/QL or RM or ROM
ROM has intelligence boosting, RAIKOV module in it, stuff to help with mathematics & physics (Virtuoso di Mathematica) if needed. Putting ROM out there as an option.
I think Index Gate replaces RM for anything programming.
Before the release of Index Gate I did use Renaissance Man + Ascended Mogul in ZPv1 a while back for learning web scraping in Python and in R. It was a good combo.

So index gate/Rom custom would be better than index gate/QL?
I cannot say for sure which is one is better as I never tried a custom with those cores.

Both options sound good. I’ve tried ROM not QL.
I’d go with QL if in it for the long term (6 months+).

RoM looks to be geared toward introspective abilities and spirituality, with a secondary as a direct cognition booster. Whilst it can indirectly contribute, I think QL plays a more direct influence in the field of Tech with its overall improvement to mental capacity and functioning. The sales description is just so much more linear as to its increase in brain power with QL
